Does anybody really care?

Hi, first let me say that I have truely missed this board and the happy times that I shared with each and everyone of you. You may not remember me, but I was a member here for about two years until strong political views and sensitive feelings on my part sent me away. I used to get up early and grab my coffee cup and log into the 40 and fit board.

I would look foward to Tulips and her stories of Holland, Phyllis and her loving Christian heart, Nancy and farm life in South Dakota, Princess and chicken life and her love of her sisters, Tweety and the growth of her children, Booty and the ups and downs of marriage, Deb and her exciting life of wealth in Washington, Rhonda and the love of her family and the beach....remember Chevy Chase in chat. Susan and her son learning to drive and seeing the woman plucking hairs from her chin, Kat and her love of her son and working those two jobs, ever so hard. Sassy and the busy life of a "soccer mom". I am the the big sister and her New England life and love of her niece and nephew. Shar and her life in Victoria chasing after those little boys. I hope I did not forget anyone, if I did I am so sorry, but this was over a year ago, right before Cussette joined the board (by the way are you ever fit).

Over the year I have become close friend with Tweety as we share many things in common. It breaks my heart to see how she was treated when she spoke her mind to the Michael Moore post. Not one person stuck up for her. This was how I was meant to feel after a joke was posted about the "crazy, liberal" people of California.

I spend each and every day caring for sick children as a pediatric nurse. Politics is nothing to a sick child, what they need is a caring hand, a smiling face, someone saying that everthing is ok. It would be nice if we as adults could remember this.

Excellent post, Donna, filled with logic instead of emotion. Thanks for sharing that.

Thanks. One of my good friends once told me, in the nicest way possible, that I could be "clinical". Well, sometimes it's needed. Somebody has to be the cold shower! Guess it's the Capricorn in me.

BTW, don't you dare take your ball and leave. No one should.

Is that ball or balls ;) I have noticed that you do have strong political views and you voice them.I have also noticed that you also voice care, concern and understanding when someone needs it.

Please do not take your ball anywhere else. I would miss your posts of friendship, concern and understanding.

Thank-you, Grace. I was only kidding. You see I really do CARE enough to stick it out and participate on a regular basis in spite of being singled out with unkind words and untrue accusations. I won't just show up annually to chastize some

It breaks my heart to see how she was treated when she spoke her mind to the Michael Moore post. Not one person stuck up for her.

I've reread the posts in response to Lisa... and I don't see how she was treated poorly or disrespectfully. It was her comment about seeking truth that prompted me to reply, otherwise I wouldn't have posted at all: I have not seen Moore's film, nor do I watch O'Reilly, but I do have thoughts on who *is* a good historical film maker. Rhonda shared links for reading, which she's found in her own efforts to seek the truth. No one was being bashed or being told to put a cork in it.

I come here because of the support of *all* women here - from Christian to Pagan to Agnostic, from Liberal to Conservative to Independent, and some who haven't come to a conclusion about either their spiritual or political convictions. Support in the ups and downs of day to day living, which looms much larger than some political opinion. Lisa's been a huge part of that support. I've so enjoyed the pictures of her kids, newest grandchild, her race pictures (she and I have that in common), and I absolutely loved that 5-generations picture. I've seen the caring hands, smiling faces, and "everything is okay" support right here on this board from *everybody*, even those whose political or religious beliefs I don't share, and in the name of the God I believe in, I love them all for it.

I've also seen women here *able* to disagree about their convictions and not let it get them so uptight that they feel the need to leave. That's one thing that attracted me to this board - the ability of nearly everyone here to agree to disagree. If ever I make a move to leave this board because someone's opinion has gotten under my skin, I'd have to really re-examine why I'm unable to accept that opinion to the point where I'd turn my back on everything that's good here. The board as a whole vs. someone's opinion that bugs me... for me, there's no doubt the scales tip in the board's favor, and that I'd swallow my pride about the disagreement (even if I'm right, LOL!) to maintain the friends I've made here.

On a personal note, too bad I joined after you departed, Sharon! I would've loved to have gotten to know you.

Lisa, I'm going to miss you. I'd ask you to stay, but it seems you've already made up your mind. I'm sorry to see that.

Good points, Linda, and I'm glad you posted it. To read some of the posts since this whole thing got so ridiculously out of hand, one might think I was the only one posting, just writing stuff to myself to offend as many people as possible, since I was the only one mentioned by name.

As I recall, several of us were posting and were quite in agreement with no problem about the content of the posts until Tweety joined in.

I hope this can now be put to rest, and we can move on to something new.
