The summer has been going by fast and I tell ya...it's the best one I remember in a long time.
It's hard to believe it's back to work Monday morning already. I just don't know where the weekend time goes! Good luck to Allison on her first day of school and to Rob going back to school. School doesn't start here for a few more weeks. It is a beautiful day here on LI. Running late here as I've been sitting here at the computer trying to help DD with a loan application and as always, my portion hits a snag with calls to customer service but I think it's squared away now. Anyway it's back to work Monday, trying to get things done around here before leaving so a quick good morning and I'll catch up with you girls later!
Hope your Monday is a good one!
Susan
Wish my little darlings were heading back to school today! They are bored and really not thrilled with the "activities" I come up with to keep them occupied. Only 10 more sleeps before we head to the beach. By the time we get back from vaca, unpack, etc., it will be time to start getting ready for school starting on September 7. I'm looking forward to it and dreading it...3 kids in 3 different schools...one of them high school! Hard to believe that boy is going into 9th grade. I sat thru parent orientation night sobbing like a baby, much to DS and DH's disgust. The time flies.
Got in a good pavement pounding this morning. Thought I'd hit abs, chest and biceps but I'm outta time. Will do those this afternoon while DH has the kids out for a jog. Trying to whip the oldest into better shape for high school baseball. Actually, Shawn is anxious to "get some wheels" and be faster getting around the bases and in the outfield. He is so strong already...it's amazing to me to watch them grow and develop.
Anyway, off to the showers and the office. Just wanted to check in with you girls.
Hugs.

Schools in the Atlanta area started back today, also. I do not miss that, although I really wish the son was back off to college. He now says that when he can get a job, he wants to save his money so he can go back next year. Good for him - now if he can just do it.
I am now conference coordinator for all training and workshops held at our Area conference center, and we started back last week with a 40-person training, and now have at least one a week until Thanksgiving week, with the exceptions of Columbus day week and Veterans day week - and I only got to take one week this summer (staying at home), what with the son moving in and all the expenses involved in that. Talk about being in need of a few days to get away.
Today, I am thinking about working out after work - provided I can get my errands done quickly (bank, post office). The son said he probably won't be home for dinner, so I can do leftovers after working out. (I am hoping that by saying it to somebody, I will actually follow through with it. All it takes is changing clothes and going to the gym.)

Thanks so much for your good wishes for Rob, everyone! I hope that Allison has a wonderful, exciting day too. She seems like a very outgoing and versatile young lady, so I have a feeling she will love it and have an easier time of it than "mom." :-) It is a big step.
Sassy, that first day of high school is a big one too. We did that last year, and Rob's school is a large one (at least for here). I think there are 2,800 kids in grades 9-12, so it was a big difference from the Christian elementary/middle school and even public middle school he'd been in. In hindsight, I'm glad I let him go to public middle school for 2 years to help him get acclimated more gradually.
We had a mini nor'easter here this weekend, as I mentioned in my post yesterday, so it's seemed fallish here too. In case you missed it, I walked over 16,000 steps yesterday and that was probably only half of what I did the previous weekend at the beach. I was pleased about that. I was very windblown from over 5 hours at the beach, but the boys were loving the rough surf. It wasn't nearly as windy a little inland. On the way home, the sun finally started coming out, and it was a beautiful evening. Today, it's overcast and windy again.
It was a rude awakening when that alarm clock went off at 5:30 this AM. Rob practiced putting in his contacts last night and was able to get them in, but tried in 2 sessions for half an hour this morning with no luck. I've been after him for the last couple of weeks to work on that. It was still dark out when he headed out to the bus stop, but was starting to get light. I'm hoping he'll be able to start riding with the girl across the street soon like he did with her brother last year before he graduated.
I made a start on a mountain of laundry, so I know I'll be doing that today. Not sure what else yet. I'm tired.

I read your description of the area you hiked, and it sounded just beautiful. Bet that was revitalizing.
I can feel your excitement about Johnny's return. Glad it's almost here.

It was weird coming home without her. It felt like Dan should stick around but he went to work shortly thereafter. And now it's so QUIET. I've got plenty to do, and plan to start a few things today. But it feels like I should be at work! I'll see how this year goes, possibly the next. I'm sure I'll return to work at some point, but when I do, it'll be under the conditions that I'm home when she gets home, off when she's off. Might be hard for an employer to swallow. Well, I'm not going to think about that right now. Surprisingly, I don't have that hollow pit in my stomach like I did about a week ago. I'm sure she's gonna give me an earful when I go pick her up!
Workout - maybe. I had space problems on the computer, and in trying to free up some things, wiped out our Netscape defaults and I've spent a good bit of the morning setting our e-mails up again and inputting from our last full backup. We didn't lose any e-mail, but any additions to address books or new bookmarks in the last 3 months are gone. So, the time I would've run I've spent on the 'pooter, and given what else I'd like to do around the house today, I'm not sure if I'll work out. My plan is to have *my* stuff done before picking up Allison, which would include any workouts. When she gets back, time with her and getting dinner ready.
