Threatening Thursday here...

The gov. has declared a state of emergency here, because we may be slammed by two strong storms at the same time. Bonnie is coming ashore at the Panhandle part of the state from the Gulf and Charlie is heading up the East Coast when it gets north of the Bahamas. We've been really fortunate here in recent years, so hope our luck holds out.
I'd like to finish the yard work I started Tuesday. I didn't realize how high and thick the grass had gotten, plus edging was really tough as thick as the grass it. Even after I cut the runners, I had to go back and pull them by hand. Got some of the blowing done, but still need to do the driveway and some of the curbs. I've been working at trying to get the weeds pulled, but they are much more persistent about growing than I am about pulling.
Hope everyone makes the most of this day. It's the only 8/12/04 we'll ever have! Make it count.

We're under flash flood watches here today and tomorrow due to the storms.Maybe an inch or so of rain headed our way. Some areas have already had alot so they will be the ones concerned about flooding. Not much going on here today, just the usual work in CL.
Hope everyone has a good day!

How's your dad feeling? I thought of him yesterday.

I sure do need a sleepy icon this morning. I am so groggy and out of it this morning and would happily go back to bed if I could. Sure do wish yoga pants and a tshirt were proper dress code for the office :)!
Deb is right-it is super muggy here, heavy rain and t-storms yesterday afternoon and last night, and downpours at any given time today. DH fed Otto this morning and after eating he usually meanders into the yard to take care of business although as he was preparing to do that the skies opened up he took a look and a sniff at the weather backed his big butt up and went back to bed! I guess he figured he really didn't need to go that bad!
Nothing much on the agenda except getting to work and managing to keep at least one eye open during the course of the day.
Rhonda-hoping like Lori that you won't be squished by the 2 storms. DD will be traveling back up the east coast from her trip this weekend and I do hope all these storms are well out of the way by that time.
Hope your Thursday is a good one!

I did have a great workout Wednesday night. A solid 40-min cardio session with lunges on the treadmill at incline on 8, 150 weighted crunches and lateral stretches, and LB and UB work with the weight machine and freeweights.
I ended up eating dinner late, but very light - scrambled EggBeaters with low-fat cheese, and two slices of Canadian bacon. No veggies - I'd had a bushel of them at lunchtime and couldn't face any more green food. I was craving chocolate badly all day, but held out until I got home. The only chocolate thing in the house is DH's Smucker's hot fudge, so I indulged in a very generous teaspoon full. Yum-meee!
Looking for some inspiring thanksfuls, but settling for the usual great things - good husband, good family, good friends, good home, and a job that sometimes has good points.
Have a great day, everyone! Be careful in the South in the storm zones!

Want to do Body Sculpt as soon as I get off here. I've kept up with running while at MIL's house and have restarted after a week off, but haven't done weights in about 2-1/2 weeks. Need to get back into them. I've probably not "lost" anything on weights, for I'm up to 22 pushups as of yesterday (the last two are hard!).
Other than that, I've got to do menu planning and major grocery shopping after my workout. I managed to mop the kitchen and vacuum yesterday, so bathrooms today.
I woke up being very thankful for Dan and Allison, and the house we live in. Thankful too that Allison and I have been able to do a devotional every morning to start the day off right.

I forgot about the thankfuls today. I'm thankful that I got an invitation to attend a reception for Congressman Bill McCollum and his campaign manager, Senator Connie Mack, at Epping Forest Yacht club as their guest next Monday evening. If I hadn't I couldn't attend, because it's $1,000.00 a person!!! Sometimes all this volunteer work does pay off, although a check would be very nice. The place is gorgeous and very historic. When Gerald Ford and Anwar Sadat met there for talks, Sadat said it reminded him of his home on the Nile. I remember watching their motorcade go up

I have been watching the news about the storms coming to shore. They may even affect us here on Long Island. I do hope your luck holds out and you don't get slammed by them. Does the yard work ever end?? Good luck with getting it done before the storms hit. Try not to over do though.
We have a wedding to go to Saturday and there is a pre wedding bbq Friday night. Looks like both will be rained out with Bonnie and Charley on the way. Poor bride...it is always disappointing when it rains on your wedding day, but it is supposed to be good luck.
I was extra bummed yesterday because of the paper I had to sign for my surgery. I will be left with permanent numbness which is supposed to be better than pain. I hope it is numbness and not tingling. Of course my foot didn't feel too

Thanks for your post to me yesterday, Patty. As I mentioned below, I was a little bummed after the visit with Dr.
Hope the storms don't cause much flooding by you. Try to stay dry in CL
You have a good day too.
