What a fantastic post to come to!Phyllis, enjoy the hike. Can't wait to hear about it.
I'm thankful for the fantastic summer I've had.
Can't believe we're 3 months from Thanksgiving which means I'm about ready to turn 39 ....again :)I'm with Phyllis on needing a challenge or a plan to take me into the holidays.
Today I want to get a good run in and some ab and UB work.Looks like rain and wind heading our way.We were suppose to be having a cookout tomorrow but everyone else wants to cancel. I don't quite get why we're canceling a cookout tomorrow for a storm today.
Grace, hope the weather doesn't effect the wedding today. Thinking of everyone else as the storm heads up the coast.Stay safe.
Awesome Phyllis about that climb up Pike's Peak. What a wonderful thing that Johnny is home to share it with you!
Woke up to a sunny morning and headed out for a walk but already the clouds have rolled in. The humidity is still quite thick and I didn't get my 3 miles in. A little over 2 miles and the umph was definitely out of the umphpah! We're headed out to the eastern end of LI today. We were supposed to be going got later and have dinner with good friends of ours but because of the threat of heavy rain, winds and flooding for this evening we've decided to go earlier and come home earlier. DD is headed home from her vacation in the Dominican Republic and after talking to her last night it wasn't exactly the dream vacation she had planned. She called last night to make sure I had their flight information so that DS can pick them up from the airport. DD ended up getting dehydrated and had an asthma attack. Of course her inhalor didn't work and she ended up having the hotel doctor give her a nebulizer treatment and an injection to calm her down to the tune of $400-not sure whether her insurance will pick it up. So I'm hoping that this flight home will be a smooth one for them and that they beat the storm home.
That's about it for this neck of the woods. I need to get showered and other DD wants me to run to the mall quick before we head out today. Hope you all have a Super Duper Saturday!
Have a great time on your Pike's Peak mission! I admire you for undergoing such a hike!
Hope you and dh have a memorable time today.
Hey, ladies! I've been trying to read your posts lately, but my jobs and ds have kept me so busy I can't quite keep up with you all! Hope everyone is in good health and that Rhonda and family are ok today. I've been watching the news this a.m. & the devastation to Florida is just horrible!
Linda, hope your dd continues to enjoy her kindergarten year. That is such a cute age for children!
I wish I had more time to write today, but have to work all weekend. My ds and his teammates lost up at the world series in GA. I drove out there to see ds - 12 hours! During the first game (they won this one & it was against last year's winner), a pitch hit one of the player's in the back of his head & he spent the rest of the trip in ICU in Columbus, GA. He is fine, now, but will not play contact sports for a year. That affected their games, needless to say. Anyway, we're back in school, now and ds will be getting an MRI on his back to see what's wrong with it. He can't play football until that is completed. Thankfully, the imaging place will take monthly payments! It's always something! No girls have been calling my ds, LOL, Rhonda! I can see why they would call Rob, he's such a cutie! I went thru the girls calling our house alot when ds was 11! Thankfully, he's only had one girlfriend and after he broke up with her, I think he decided it was not worth it or else going fishing holds more charm for him.
Well, I better get moving! I will head out for a powerwalk this a.m. before I head into Steinmart (which I like ever so much more than Dillard's!). I hope to watch more of the Olympics - did anyone see any of the opening ceremonies? Athens is such a beautiful city!
I'm thankful for my health and my family's good health.
So glad to see a post from you. I've been thinking about you and hoping everything was OK. As I can see from your post, you've been super busy with everything!
Phyllis the hike sounds like fun, I wish I could be there too.
Cussette, good luck with the race, I'm sure you'll do well.
I've got one of those do what comes next days planned. DH is changing the transmission fluid in DD's car, so I'm going to help him with that (you know, I'm the "go-for"). There's a motorcycle ride and car show tonight in Vernon, TX. I'm thinking about trying to talk DH in going to it, but it will depend on how we both feel after the working on the car.
I'm thankful for life, family and friends that truly care about me, and a God that loves all his children. By the way ladies, I quit smoking again yesterday (Friday the 13th). I have had larengitis (or something wrong with my larenax) for a while now. I finally went to the doctor on Thurs. and he thinks it is allergy related, told me to try gargling with salt water, take a decongestant and flonaze all 2x's daily. If it's not better by Tuesday then I have to see a specialist because it could be a cist on my larenax. I actually think the it's working. DH said at least now he can understand what I'm saying. I was getting pretty concerned since it had been going on for a couple of months now. That is part of the reason I decided to quit smoking again. I started thinking about the grandkids reaction if I had to have a trakiotomy (can't spell). (LOL) The doc said that so far there are not any known side effects from the nicotine gum so I'm back on it. I quit smoking 2 1/2 yrs ago using the gum so I'm confident I can do it again. I just need some serious motivation, and the thougt of having my throat cut was pretty scary. I told DH that I'm going to need to do extra exercises and watch what I eat closer so I don't start gaining weight from no smoking.
Sorry I got carried away with the not smoking thing.
