I hope you and everyone in your family are ok, Rhonda. I've been watching the news and Charley sure hit the west coast hard!

Hi everybody. Thanks for your good thoughts. This is the first time I've been on the computer today, because Rob rushed me to the beach this morning. We were very fortunate that the storm weakened quickly and moved a little more southerly than first predicted. Poor SW FL was pretty devastated where the storm came ashore. It was supposed to hit Orlando pretty hard too. I don't know, but I think Erin may have been up here at her father's house, because yesterday was his birthday. She may have evacuated to up here or was probably coming up here today anyway. I can only guess.

I am going to catch up on the posts after I get a bath.

Hugs,

Rhonda

So glad you guys are ok.It must be difficult worrying about Erin and not knowing.

Way off the subject but have you seen a recent report that says vitamin D is good for seasonal sadness? It says that people who dread winter because of less sunshine should take a vit D supplement. I may try that this winter.

My doc told me this week that she's been reading a lot about taking calcium for PMS symptoms and Vitamin D for general mood stuff (as well as PMS help). She recommended I try it. What have you heard?

It is difficult not knowing. I'm hoping no news is good news, and that if something bad did happen, her father would have the decency to let me know.

Calcium is good for preventing muscle spasms and cramping in general, so it should help with menstrual related ones too. I probably do like the long days better because of the amounts of natural Vit. D I get from the sun. Since Rob has a wet suit, I may be able to get more natural D this winter and fare better than I have in past years.

There have been alot of studies on calcium for pms and some for migraines. They think it has some effect on the serotonin levels. The article on vitamin D also said it seems to increase the level of serotonin. They studied 2 different doses, one of which was very high. They were both effective.(I'll double check the doses if you like)Plus neither had any problems or side effects.I think I may give it a try since it may play a role in my migraine prevention.

Yes, I'd appreciate it if you'd check the dosage. Thanks!

Magnesium is also supposed to be excellent for migraines, asthma, and a host of other things.

The doses were 400 and 6000. I've taken magnesium but haven't seen much change. I'm playing with the different forms to see if that helps.Saw a cheleted form that had both calcium and magnesium with magnesium being the highest dose. Some recomend that for migraines so I may try that one.

I wonder why the doses are so extremely different. Puzzling. I know too much calcium can have a constipating effect, so the magnesium may help with that. Also, calcium and magnesium should be in a particular balance with each other.

Thanks for the info.!!
