I am new to this board but I wanted to ask a big favor of everyone reading this.

I have 4 adult sons and my youngest one Chad age 24 is just about to come out

of jail. He was in there for possession of drugs, something new for him as

he was fine after high school but during the last year or so he got mixed up

with the wrong crowd.

I am sure some of you have sons and nephews and that not all have been always

good so you know what I am going through. Did not worry while he was in jail

for 5 months because knew he was safe there, 4 walls, free food, being watched, etc.

However he gets released tomorrow. My request is that can you please pray for

Chad because when he gets out there will be so much temptation and so much that

can distract him from doing the right thing. He will be going through a program

and staying in a half-way house and monitored but still.

I would certainly do the same for you if the tables were turned so please, please

help me by saying a prayer for Chad. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

You got 'em lady. Hugs for you, prayers for Chad. It's going to be hard on him for sure, but hopefully he had a chance to really think about what direction he wants his life to go. Prayers for you too, because in a sense you're grieving for your child.

I'm a believer that faith in God can turn anyone's life around. I've got a friend who's husband is a former user and finally went clean. He had one setback about 2 years ago, but has been focused since then. They both have a pretty strong faith and that's carried them through, and also has given him that clearer goal. Prayers that Chad finds this as a goal, too.

I've already said a prayer for the both of you and will continue to pray for you. Getting over an addiction is a hard thing. Hopefully he will find a new circle of friends and realize that life is truly better drug free. My 2nd husband was a recovering alcoholic and I used to go to AA meetings with him. There's really a lot of good advice and experience in those meetings. Have you concidered going to Alanon (meetings for family members of alcoholics and drug addicts)?

Hang in there Jorene, being a mother in a cituation like this is extremely hard. There's a fine line between helping him out and being an enabler. I hope and pray things work out for the both of you. If you ever need to talk you can email me.

May God bless you and your family,
