It's been a typical Monday. AF came a couple of days early and I can't decide it I want to cry or scream. I quit smoking again on Friday, which actually isn't botherimg me to much. I guess since I quit before for 2 yrs and have only been smoking about 6 wks this time around it isn't as hard. For about 2-3 months now, my voice sounds hoarse and scratchy. I finally went to the dr on Thurs. & he thinks it's allergy related, since when it first started I had a bad allergy attack. I don't seem to be getting any better. Dr said if the allergy meds don't help then I need to see a specialist. He said it might be a cist on my laranyx, which scares me to death.
Well hope everyone else had a wonderful Monday. If you think of it please say a little prayer for me that I get better and don't end up having surgey on my throat. Maybe this will scare my kids into quitting smoking, it sure did me.
I got most of what I wanted accomplished.Had a very good run but once again the weights got pushed aside to get other things done.I really need to get backon track with those.I think part of the problem is I do those inside and in the summer I want to be outside as much as possible.
Nancy, I've thought about you alot today. It must be hard saying goodbye to your son since he is going so far away and you're not sure when you'll see him again.I was thinking about all you've had going on this past year with your DD graduating, getting married, your son going farther away and even having Annie come into your life.So many changes.
I wanted to do a kickin' workout and I did it. Leg press up to 220 lb! A couple of new exercises with the weight bench for UB, three sets of tricep kickbacks - two with the 8-lb and one with the 10-lb dumb-bells! Three sets of reverse bicep curls using 8-lb dumb-bells. Lat pulldowns at 60 lb. Chest presses at 65. Rows at 60. And 3+ miles on the treadmill, including 6 sets of lunges at elevation 8. Oh, yeah, forgot abs, but I can do them tomorrow.
Inspiration provided by all you great women - and Andrea Bocelli singing Italian opera, pop, and folk songs on PBS while my workout was in progress!
Hoping that your scratchy throat is taken care of by a little Flonase and the allergy meds the doc gave you, and hoping that you won't need to see a specialist.
Hang in there with the no more smoking. It's a tough thing to give up - I've watched many relatives try and fail before finally being successful; you did it once, you can do it again.
Nancy, your workout sounds great. And I really loved reading that you enjoyed it.I love running, some days LOL.Some days I don't and those days I do something else or walk.It took me a long time to work up to where I am now.And too many times I tried to do too much too fast. For me running is a great outlet for stress and emotions. It gives me a sense of accomplishment. When I read how some of the others feel about jazzercise I think that it how it is with me and running.Hope you'll post how your workouts are going and how you like them.
I'll be thinking about your son as he starts his new job. And as always keeping those working on the harvest in my thoughts and prayers.
I managed 3.8 miles on my run, making it 2/3s the way up Big Hill before walking. A bit humid this morning, and my legs were a bit sore from the different weight work I did on Sunday. Happy with my time - just right. Came back, cooled down, and did abs. Got the unpacking done, did a little more grocery shopping for perishables that I didn't want to get before going to MILs, organized coupons, did laundry from the weekend. An okay day. Didn't accomplish a ton, but didn't slack off, either.
Alice, best wishes on you putting away the cigs for good this time - I'm pulling for ya! I pray the raspy voice is no more than lingering allergies combined with the smoking.
Patty, I hear ya about preferring running to weights. I'd rather be running outside too. The one thing we've got going in the southeast is that by mid-morning it's already getting hot, and it's steamy even when it's cooler. That'll drive a body indoors!
Nancy, hugs - you sound like you could use them. Good luck on working up to a run. You're right to start off slowly as you're doing. Last year I had to lay off running a few times to let strained muscles heal. That hasn't happened this year, but my approach is more laid back (I think).
