Only 6:30 and I've already started on a box of tissues.I have been watching alot of the news on the impact of the storm that hit Florida.Today I was watching an interview of an elderly lady who stayed in her home during the storm. She was in the area that was hardest hit.In the middle of the interview a younger woman came running across the yard filed with debris, crying and laughing. It was the womans daughter. She had been on the phone with her mother hours earlier before the storm hit and had lost the connection. The daughter lived in VA and hadn't been able to get thru to her mom again. She got on a plane flew to Florida, rented a car and drove to her mothers home. When she got there she saw the devastation and didn't know if her mom was ok.She comes across the yard laughing and crying and saying"you're alive, you're alive".Wow, so many thoughts went thru my mind as I watched that. One, how wonderful it is to be loved by family and friends. Two, how many days do I get up and take for granted that I am alive. And finally, what incredible things we can accomplish when love is involved.

Some days when I'm having a really good run I am filled with such joy to be lucky and healthy enough to be doing that. And on days when I go further or faster(both being relative) than I ever imagined I could I realize it's because I really love what I'm doing.

Are you working out today?Planning new menus?Looking for ways to improve your level of fitness? However you are spending today I hope it is filled with love and the joy of living.Take care.

Miss P

That is a great deal on the Jazzercise Deb. You can't go wrong for that. Also, it is $10 a class here for a walk in..you have better rates there for sure.

Hope all goes well with your mom.

I will keep your DS in my prayers. What part of FL is he coming to?

Another excellent post, Patty. What a neat moment to have captured on tape and to get to share. That's something I'd want a copy of if I were those women. I'm sure there are all kinds of wonderful human interest stories from the storm. I've been on the computer all morning, and one of the things I've been doing is trying to get donations to aid the people in SW FL. I have a list of needed items that we'll pick up and send down by the truckload when we have enough. I sent them to all the Republican clubs in town, various friends, relatives, etc., and ask them to spread the word too.

I've also been trying to get more publicity for a Swift Boat Vets rally that will be in Gainesville (Home of UF) this Sat. and Sun. These guys have a very compelling story that needs to be told, but the main media has not cooperated. Wintersoldier.com is willing to post a link as soon as I can get one, I've notified a journalist here, the Gainesville newspaper so that hopefully they'll put it in their community calendar section, all the clubs here, various friends, etc. I'm also trying to get some vets on the fire dept. to see if they can help one of the vets out with a mobile display at the Jaquars game this weekend and seeing if the Rep. club at Univ. of N. FL would like to have them there. Funny how one event leads to another.

I was going to mow, but I'm hearing thunder, and one clap just sounded very close to my house. We're going to be having afternoon thunderstorms all week. That's pretty much par for this time of year here.

The reception for Bill McCollum last night was so nice. I helped sign people in to have their pictures made with former Sen. Connie Mack (a male) and former Congressman McCollum. I got to have mine done with them for free because of the work I've done. Then, an attorney who's working on the campaign made me come in again and have mine made with him because he is "shy" (NOT)!!! The food was delicious, especially the little desserts, and I got to meet some very nice people. A state senator sat at our table, and I got to talk to the mayor's father who OWNS Epping Forest Yacht Club, along with many other places in the area. I told him how glad I was that they were going to be opening a Gate gas station near us and that I hoped they'd put one up at the new exit at I-95 near us. He said they'd bought property for that and were going to. They are very nice with sub shops, banks, and other stuff in them.

Tim and I came home via the new exit last night, and it was really cool! It was so much easier than the way I've been using for 31 years. I'll have to retrain myself. It looked so pretty with the fountains in the ponds lighted and the big letters spelling out JACKSONVILLE on the overpass. Things are changing so much around here. That area is booming, which means more traffic.

Hope everyone has a good day. All of you lucky enough to have beautiful weather -- enjoy!!

I think it must be a law of nature or something that there must be screw-ups for weddings. I don't think I've ever heard of one that didn't have something go wrong. That really is terrible about the dresses though. They'd better do everything possible to correct it in time, since it was their mistake. I agree the less the bride knows to add to her jitters, the better. Sure hope it all gets worked out. Somehow it usually does. Keep us posted.

Hugs,

Rhonda

Tuesday afternoon - If I can get a couple more nights of sleep like last night, I may feel human again. Went to bed at 9:30, and actually slept. I did hear the boys upstairs until midnight, but these new ones aren't as loud as their predecessors. The apartment above mine is rented by a couple of Mormon boys on their mission, and every few months, they rotate out, and two new ones come in - I think that their church actually rents the apartment, then they rotate the missionaries in and out. Of course, these are young (19-24 years old) very active young men, who don't realize how loud they are walking around above my head, vacuuming and starting laundry at 10:00 at night, etc. If I don't have conferences going on, I can do the stay up til 11:00-11:30 and get up at 5:30, but when I have to add conference work to my regular day, then get up at 5:00, it just gets to be too much. I just want to go home after work and sleep, then eat, then sleep some more. (Not healthy, I know.)

I am trying to eat a little healthier for this week, since I may not make it to the gym, and so far, yesterday and today I am succeeding. I just feel like I am starting all over again in trying to get fit. Occasional walks and once-a-week trips to the gym just don't do much and I feel that I have lost so much ground over the past couple of months.

Deb - I had to come back and reread your msg. I didn't realize how monumental a scr%^up had happened with the bridesmaids' dresses. I do hope the shop owner will make things right for you all and replace the purple dresses with blue pronto - it's not the end of the world, but when the bride and her attendents pictured and selected one thing for the wedding and the reality is another thing, it's pretty upsetting. The girl from the shop owes all of you a great big apology

About Katie's dress - I hope you can solve that with some creative stitchery. Has Katie healed from her bite wounds and might she still be a bit swollen? Deep tissue takes a while to heal, right?

Hope everything works out for the best, Deb!

Great post. I saw that mother and daughter reunion too. I cried too. Little miracles happen everyday and sometimes we don't see them. My dd finally heard from her friend in Orlando and her family is well. Their house is standing but the yard is a mess. Thank God. AC
