NEWBIE...Cortislim???

Hello. I'm a 'newbie' to this board and I was wondering if anyone has tried CORTISLIM? I am 46 yrs young (in full menopause since 37 yrs young...had ovaries removed thru ovarian cancer..never had children...that's why so young). In the last 3 yrs. as I was caretaking for my mother & father and not paying enough attention to my own wellbeing, 55 lbs crept up! It was like one day I looked in the mirror and there it was! YIKES! I still lead a very stressful life although I'm trying really hard to eliminate lots of it. (meditation, feng shui, etc) Anyway...I saw this CORTISLIM commercial and it was 'talking to me' if you know what I mean. ;) But I'm skeptical and don't have lots of $ to waste. (who does?) Just wondered if anyone here has tried it (or knows anyone who has tried it)and if it really works? Thanx so much for your time. Brenda a.k.a. Jewelbaby44

Wanted to welcome you too. Lori and Phyllis summed up my feelings on pills (and diets) that promise stuff without retooling your lifestyle. It's easy to get lured in, until you remember that so much of this "knowledge" is *theory* - not fact. Not only are you dealing with how nutrients and non-nutrients are broken down, absorbed, used and stored, which is not completely understood, but you're also dealing with changing female hormones as we are aging, and again, we don't know the exact results of those changes. Plus everyone changes differently. That's why the HRT that works for one chick won't necessarily work for another. The other thing that makes me leary of over the counter pills and their miracle claims is that it's happening more often that something goes terribly wrong for a number of people. Ephedra in supplements comes to mind.

We had a brief discussion a few weeks ago on this, and Rhonda had a link. Check out the discussion and link provided. http://messageboards.ivillage.com/n/mb/message.asp?webtag=iv-fbfitforties&msg=13094.1

I can't remember the last time anyone even obliquely referred to me as a chick.

Welcome to the board, Brenda. Nope, I haven't tried that, but I can't even remember to take my vitamins so I doubt I'd be any good at remembering to take another pill.

Hope to see more posts from you in the future. I can relate to the stress - i.e. eating in a hurry - big no-no, not squeezing in fitness, no time for relaxing, etc. We just need to put ourselves up there on the importance list & just take care in our eating, exercise & get that relaxation into our schedule!

Welcome, Brenda! If you click on the following link you'll see the ingredients in Cortislim. There's nothing earthshaking in there. The knowledgeable people at the health food store where I go said it's basically a waste.

Thank You All so much for your feedback. I suppose Lately I've become so frustrated having reached a kind of 'plateau'. Yes, it IS hard to lose weight when going through menopause and I guess I wasn't thinking straight because I do know that it really isn't the correct way to lose this weight. (Cortislim) I do exercise 3 to 4 x's a week and walk whenever I get the chance. However, I am in the process of moving (from apt to house) and I haven't been eating correctly. (Sometimes no breakfast, on the run, etc.) and that has a lot to do w/my current 'plateau status' I'm sure. Again, Thank you all (chicks) ;) for the feedback. I'm saving my $ and getting back on track. I suppose it was all just 'wishful thinking' :).

Also, Thanks for welcoming me to the boards and bringing me to my senses....I'm sure I'm going to like it here.

Hi Brenda! Welcome aboard!:)

I have tried some of the older OTC diet pill suggestions and the results I had was that I lost weight fast then gained it all back plus about 10 more pounds. So now I'm trying the "Life Style Change" suggestions, eating healthier, smaller portions, exercising more, etc. It really seems to be working, I have lost some weight, it's coming off slowly but that is the best way to loose it and keep it off. You might be surprised some of the ways you can get a little extra exercise (activity) in your day. Some of the suggestions I follow is parking far away from the entrance to a store so I have to walk further, taking the stairs whenever possible, I even skip at work from my desk to the copier (people laugh @ me but I've been told by co-workers they think it's cute and it makes them smile). I'm 45 yrs old and had let about 40 pounds creep up on me in the past 4 yrs now I want it off & be able to keep it off. I already feel better about myself and that is important to me.

Well DH is ready to go grocery shopping so I need to get off my duff & do shopping (I love to shop but not for groceries {LOL}),

Hello, all. I am 49 female and have been "there".In January I stopped smoking, my weight started climbing, In March it was up almost 10 pounds a month. Then I went to visit my doctor, he said menapause. Joy....
I hated my doctor, thought he was the stupidest person alive, his answer was learn to control your elbow....
Then in late September 2004, I hit bottom, it was either lose weight or start smoking again.
I chose to lose weight. I found a weight doctor, he gave me a diet and a good talk. Well, I have lost from 187.6 to 157.6.
What I did was, counted fat grams, protein and carbohydrates. I bought me a gazelle, walk 1 hour a day, eat every 3 hours. I do low fat yogurt, jello, chicken and turkey breast and lots of salads.
My weight has leveled off but I am still losing size. I feel great, I had heard about a diet pill,Phentermine. Even went so far as to visit...www.rxgenericdrugs.com,,, placed and order and was ripped off, live and learn, the message source in the email said forged internet address... O.K. that is the real reason I came here tonight, to warn everyone who is thinking about ordering pills online, know who you are ordering from, and please don't order from rxgenericdrugs.... And do lots of research on this and other drugs. If you don't change your eating and living habits the pills will be short lived.
Thanks for taking the time to read my pet peeve of the day.....

Jeannie, congratulations on losing 30 pounds. It sounds like you are doing great without diet pills. Keep up the good work. Tricia
