Good morning everyone!Happy Sept 1st!!!Did you all see where they have discovered new planets outside our solar system?I think it is so amazing that as long as man as been on earth there are still new things to learn and discover. So have you discovered anything new about yourself lately?Maybe you've discovered that you are stronger than you ever imagined.Or maybe you've discovered a trait about yourself that you never gave much thought to.Maybe you've discovered that somewhere along the line you have really come to enjoy working out. That it's not something you have to do but love to do.I think the 40s, and beyond, are such an amazing time for women. We're reaching a point in our lives where we have alittle more time to focus on ourselves. We don't take things for granted so much and we have a greater sense of what's really important.Hopefully at this age we come to realize that the number on the scale or the one on the tags in our clothing is not as important as our overall health and wellbeing. There are so many things to discover about ourselves. From the smallest of things like finding a new color that looks good on you to to the biggest of things like learning all you're capable of.
So how are you starting your new month.Anyone making any changes in their workouts?Adding a new food to your menu or taking one out?Anyone have any new projects they're getting ready to tackle?
Enjoy your day and the new month!!!!

My workout today will be either a short run or tae bo and some LB work.Last day with chickens.I'm trying not to dwell on the fact that during my time off a hurricane may come up the coast in our direction. If so there could be some serious weather whining!
DH is home today and that always messes up my schedule.Yesterday he was gone but it was late in the morning til he left. Then he came back 10 mins later because he forgot something. Then he called 2 times to ask me to do something for him.Sheesh, it was like he never left!!!!

So many wise words and good thoughts and so early in the morning! I so do enjoy your early morning get up and go words of wisdom.
The rain stopped early yesterday, the humidity lowered and we're now experiencing beautiful late summer weather. Bathroom renovation lives on, think I've got my tile picked out unfortunately the bathroom cabinets are another story. We even had the layout guy at Home Depot stumped and kept shaking his head...don't think that was very encouraging. So until demolition starts and we see if we can gain any space we're not going to be able to make a decision...again not a good thing!
Anyway, it's off to NYC for a matinee performance of "Chicago". Sort of an early anniversary present to ourselves.
I'm not doing well in the exercise or food department. I just can't seem to get myself motivated to do anything lately. Hopefully after this week of vacation, the start of a new month and season and settling back into a normal daytime routine I'll find my motivation hanging around somewhere!
Hope you all have a Wonderful Wednesday!
Susan
Patty, I think you have found your calling!

Wonderful post, as always, Patty! I've rediscovered that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction (remember learning that in school?). Unfortunately, it's that if I keep coughing this hard, I may wind up needing Depends! Not something I really wanted to learn and probably not something you wanted to hear, but that's how yesterday and today have been going for me. I seem to be on the road to having what I had before even though I'm resting, etc. I've had two cups of purple antioxidant tea this morning to try to help.
Well, I'm extremely disappointed that my candidate for the senate lost last night. I will support the other Republican candidate reluctantly only because he's a Rep., and we need another one in the senate, but I think his campaign was misleading and somewhat dirty at times. My guy for state committeeman, the incumbent and a really decent, hard-working guy, was beaten by someone some fatcats had put up to replace him. At least the woman I supported for the school board will be in the general election in a runoff against a former mayor. He has way more name recognition, but I don't care for him. I'll do what I can to help her.
As of last night, we have about a 35% chance of Frances hitting here this weekend when my relatives will be heading to Hilton Head, SC, and here. Not good timing. We should know more by tomorrow about the actual course it will take. I saw 4 possible routes it may travel depending on how the high and low pressures move. I'm praying it will swing east out to sea. That would also make some awesome surf. The poor people of Central FL would probably get hit again too, and although they didn't get Charley as badly as SW FL, they got enough to feel its wrath and have plenty of destruction.
Looks as though I'll be taking it easy again today too. Patty, at the rate I'm going I could be the new mascot on your Grands package!!!
Have a good day everyone!

I so agree with the clutter issue. Too much stuff, too little space. And even if the space were bigger-still don't need all that stuff. Massive amount of stuff sitting in my basement waiting for our garage sale on Saturday...and still looking for more stuff to incorporate. And none of it is coming back in here. It either goes curbside or some organization or organizations to take the rest! I've been really good about the closet clutter and swearing that when I don't wear something for a season it's out the door to someone who can use it. Now if I could just get DH to agree whole heartedly!

I've learned over the last few days that not coming here before starting The Job puts me in a state of anxious withdrawal. So I'm coming here first!
The humidity got sick of hearing me bi*** about it and has left town. Thank heaven. Clean air in the house, dry clothes, fingers I can actually fit my rings on, (reasonably) good hair, and makeup that stays where I put it (even if it didn't belong there in the first place). The real football season getting closer and closer. The Red Sox actually getting ready to sting the Yankees in the race for first place (talk about an amazing race!).
My workouts will improve with the cooling temps. I did 35 min of cardio and some LB, UB, and ab work last night on the early side, but I'm going to do more tonight using freeweights rather than the weight machine. If I get home before dark, maybe I'll take a nice walk outside in the refreshing air for my cardio. Eating hasn't been bad, but it's been erratic - got to do better there.
Have a good one!

I've discovered lately that I can still get highly pissed off at little things! That hasn't been tested lately. First time was 2 weeks ago when I got lost going to the photography class, and then yesterday when I finally yelled at a neighbor's stupid loud obnoxious mutt to shut up after ignoring it forever. This thing sees me 5-6 times a week and once upon a time didn't used to bark at passers by until the owners got a second stupid dog to keep the first one company. Now they're both obnoxious. It felt good to yell at the loud one for a change. On the other hand, I've recently had a few people tell me "You're an inspiration to me" whether in keeping fit, sharing my faith, or my parenting. Huh? Me? They haven't seen me yell at the neighbor's dog apparently! But they must see something in me that I don't, and I tell you it's humbling. I know my faults and shortcomings. Thank God I have God.
Workout today, getting ready for a run, aiming for 4.5 miles. No workout changes except that I probably won't be keeping up with water aerobics once my weekly Bible group starts. I want to make time for volunteer opportunities at Allison's school, and cramming my days with other activities mid-morning aside from the workouts I already do just wouldn't do. When water aerobics stop, I'll return to more weight work again. Doing better breakfasts, made a decent loaf of wheat bread yesterday. Projects of organizing the kitchen (going well) and doing some dining room planning (stalls out because of the kitchen) are ongoing.
