Mirror Image Monday

I picked up the issue of Fitness last week.It had a short article about tops that have things printed on the front like Strong, Gorgeous and Brilliant. It's printed backwards so when you look in the mirror you get a positive affirmation.I thought that was pretty cool because most women that I know look in the mirror and focus on their least favorite body part.Much better to give some attention to the things you like about your body.Is your diet or fitness program changing some part of your body in a positive way?Or maybe you're working on changing something on the inside.Have you learned to be more patient, more accepting?Take sometime today to focus on something you like about yourself, inside or out.
So what's up for everyone today?Anyone trying anything new this week?Shar, it sounds like you have been doing great, congratulations!Donna, hope you have a quieter week at work.
Hope everyone has a good day!!

Patience is the key word for me this week. I'm very impatient when I haven't slept well and just not doing well in the sleeping department lately. Otto and I were both dealing with the midnight roaming last night. Needed lots of patience dealing with a 20 minute conversation with my local long distance carrier this AM who just couldn't quite get a handle on my problem and sounded like she was reading off a card since she really couldn't get the jist of the problem and ended the conversation with was I sure she couldn't interest me in putting all my phone and internet needs in their hands. Patience with the children at work and patience with the medical stuff on hand for this week and just general patience with myself because the mirror image of myself as of late has been pretty awful in all respects.
Well, off now to finish getting ready for work-hope the day brings good things your way!

Positive enforcement from the Princess this morning, and thanks! Funny you should bring this up. I've focused for so long on my least favorite body part - those "saddlebags". I was listening to something on the radio this weekend and decided that I'm going to look at my better features and feel great about those. Once you do that, you surprise yourself - we all have more positives than negatives going on, inside and out. Since this is a post about what we see in the mirror, I've decided I have a pretty good waistline - not Scarlett O'Hara slim, but not typical of a nearly 50-yr-old woman's, either. It's actually defined. I have great eyes - they don't work like they used to, but they sure look nice behind my glasses! I have great calves, strong, defined, and slim. And my chest area - well, let's say it's staying in place and not giving in to gravity! So, I'm lookin' at the good parts for a change, and hoping that I'll be happy with the whole eventually. I sure feel healthier than ever - and that's the big goal, isn't it?
So, everyone, tell us about what you're happiest with concerning your appearance. Give yourself some props this morning, even if you feel that appearance is a minor consideration in the overall goal of health and fitness.
I'm supposed to meet a friend for dinner after work - the skating coach - but I looked at my calendar this morning and had totally forgotten. Need to call and see what she's up to - I'm guessing she's probably booked with lessons, because I would have heard from her by now. If our plans get switched, cardio and weight workout for me. If not, I'll try to get a walk in at lunchtime to compensate and eat healthy at dinner.
Have a good one, everybody. Celebrate yourselves!

Ok, I'm happy with my shoulders.Love how using weights is defining that area.Happy with how my thighs are shaping up since I've gotten back to regular runs.Happy with my eyes and my smile.I ran into someone I hadn't seen for awhile and they said I looked good and I said well I feel happy and healthy. It struck me at the time just how much I took that for granted and hadn't even realized just how good I felt til that moment.

It's a coolish fall day here. Damp with rain on the way, but I'm lovin' it!
I got an excellent sleep until 5 am. That is when the kids started playing musical beds. I finally got settled back down, but could not fall back to sleep, so I'm a bit weary this morning. However, I did get up at 6:30 and got my workout in before taking the boy to school. It's not likely that I will get a walk in today, so I knew if I was going to anything it would have to be before school. I hate working out *after* I've already showered. Did my 1/2 hour on the stairclimber, crunches and push-ups. I'll hit the weights a little later on.
Hmmm...what do I like about myself? Well, I like my eyes and my calves. My thighs need trimming and my belly could use some firming. Oh, and I really like my feet. I think they are very well shaped. Strange, I know, but some people have truly butt-ugly feet!!! LOL. I'm really happy with the way my complexion is taking on a *glow* again, now that I'm back to working out. It makes me feel so healthy!
Have a great day ladies. I'm going to find something fun to do!

I have internet access at home again! Hurray!! Rob's best friend just got electricity back yesterday!
Aunt Flo arrived for my birthday, but at least I had hot water for my bath and AC for the house, so I can't complain. Tim and I went out to Village Inn for breakfast for dinner, and real food was so good.
Saturday I spent most of the day mowing really thick grass, using the blower everywhere, and picking up enough debris to fill 12 large contractor size bags. I was really beat by the time I got to soak in the tub. Haven't slept too well since the hurricane. I don't know if it broke my pattern when it was so hot and sticky or if it's hormones or what, but it's making me tireder than usual.
Had a birthday dinner at my sister's house Sat., which was very nice. Mom and Dad both seem to be doing well, particularly with the health problems of the past year and the recent weather problems.

Just a quick post - meetings all day. No work tonight, but resting my back. I may take a walk this evening, though.
Ready to feel normal again, tomorrow - please, please, please! Enjoyed our downtown Methodist church service last night - gorgeous church, friendly people. Will have to go back there again!
Have a great one, everyone!
