Whats new on Wednesdays?

Whats "new" today? Its the middle of the week so we are much closer to our weekends off? How many of you will be taking advantge of the Jewish Holidays tomorrow and Friday? Are you thinking about a "new" challenge or a "new" way to express yourself? Would you eat something "new" today, just to say you did it?

Each day "new" life is brought into this world but unfortunatly lives are taken too. We had a NYC Police Officer shot and killed over the weekend, while on duty. He was only 33 years old and leaves behind a wife and three children. The family lives in Islip but was from East Islip originally. They still attend services here at the church and their one 9 year old son attends school with my nephew. They are having the services today and we are expecting so many policemen in town. The word "new" means many different things, his family now has begun a "new: life without a dad/husband. A very sad adventure I am afraid but it makes me think of how lucky indeed I am as well as others. My "new" trails are mild and easy compare to others yet I tend to complain and fight them sometimes. Today is a "new" day and a "new" week. My fresh start, comes on Wednesdays with WW weigh-ins on Tuesday. I only lost .8 but its better then a gain. New challenge today when I get home it to push myself for a walk, regardless of how I feel. Just 20 minutes!

My MIL went home yesterday. They did tons of test and none showed problems. So they are going to manage the BP from home with constant checking. She tried to do a Stress Test and was unable to do it. I so do not want that to be me in 20 years. I/we need to take care of ourselves today because we do not know what tomorrow will bring. So start each day and a "new" experience and challenge and meet them head on!

LOve this post, Deb!!!Thanks for the inspiration to be more appreciative of what I have!!!And for the motivation to go for something new.

Speaking of new ....I have a new pair of jeans I've out grown before I even got to wear!!!!Man, one lousy week off and 8 huge muffins later I'm looking at 5 extra pounds.I told my sister I couldn't believe I could gain that fast. She said "I can't believe you got on the scales to find out!!!!".LOL WE've decided the best plan is to just put the scales away.Reality is so over rated!

I'm going to head down to CL to feed the new chicks. Then I'm coming in and hitting my treadmill.Today will be a shorter, hopefully faster run. Trying to mix some things up.Also want to try to finish mowing before the rain comes in.They keep changing our forecast because of the storm. Finally they just put up rain for about a week just to cover themselves.

Again , Deb, thanks so much for the post today.I know it will really be on my mind today.

Thanks for your wise words this morning Deb. Things can change in just the blink of an eye. Each day needs to be appreciated for what it holds. Glad to hear your MIL is home from the hospital and they haven't found any serious issues.

Nothing new on the agenda around here. Thyroid check in was A-Ok and good for another 4 months. Still waiting on the blood tests and my nerves are a little raw in that department. All they could tell me was that not everything was in yet-is that good or is that bad? I was hoping it would all be in that everything was Ok so that I wouldn't have to go for this sonogram tomorrow-but it doesn't look that way unless I hear something today. Patience, Patience, Patience!

I do have a new blouse on that I purchased a few weeks ago and putting me in the fall wardrobe spirit!

Hope your day brings good things your way!

You are so right about taking care of ourselves now while we can still hope to prevent some of those tougher maladies in later life.

Thanks for those smart - and sensitive - thoughts this morning, Deb. "New" starts, "new" circumstances can come from the inside or from the outside. It's a shame that people get really thoughtful about things when tragedy strikes rather than looking at a happy event as a reason for recommitting to a good path of action. I've been thinking about this story since it hit the local news last week. A very sad circumstance. A family in the town adjacent to mine is burying their 14-yr-old daughter this morning. She was hit by a car as she and her friend walked to school on their 3rd day back into their freshman adventure. In addition to the family's tragedy, the girl's friends, all young teens, are having a very difficult time. The high school faculty and headmaster are distraught as well; there were lots of red eyes and broken voices as they spoke on the local news coverage last week. The kids have been congregating quietly and praying every evening at the accident site since it happened last Thursday, and several of their teachers, counselors, and parents have been right there with them. It's beyond heartbreaking.

I'm going to count my blessings today and take your words to heart today to do the most and the best with what today gives me. If I see an opportunity to commit a random act of kindness, I will. Most times, I walk around looking at the ground or the sky wrapped up in my own stuff. I'll try to do better today.

I was going to take a rest day today, but I'm going to use the new day to change course - I'll do a workout tonight instead and do the best thing I can for my health (thanks for your story, also, Lori). It'll keep me on track for the rest of the week.

I'm going to continue to make smart food choices. Smartest one so far? Not caving into the craving for a BK Whopper for dinner last night. The craving has passed. My doctor's good report probably helped push it out of my mind, also. I guess that's taking a positive and recommitting to a good path of action, right?

Have a thoughtful, reflective, and energetic day, everyone!

So sorry to hear about the loss of the young girl. Her family and friends will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Yes, that is taking a positive and recommitting to a good path.Good for you, I'm so proud of you.And thanks for that great example because in all honesty if I would have been you I would have probably given into the craving.Using the mindset that I deserve it.I'm going to think about you next time I'm faced with something like that.

Yesterday I tried to convince myself candy corn was a veggie......

He asked you WHAT???What was he thinking???Was he even thinking???You know mine has a tendency to be moody but never thinks he is.I think men are much moodier than they realize.

I'm thinking about you today since I have a bunch of mowing to do.I have lost the mower key twice this year because of problems with the switch.Today Mr. Funny Man got a big string and tied the key to the mower to prevent that from happening again.LOL Even I have to admit that's funny.Still wait til he sees what I do with his underwear next time he leaves them on the floor.........

Yes, take the time to read tonight.I have been doing that more and enjoying it so much.

A) What do you mean candy corn isn't a vegetable?

B) Let me know how the underwear thing goes.
