Does it look like Ivan is going to effect you much?Do all the weather reports and wondering where it will hit make you feel extra stressed?I can't imagine living there and hearing about one storm after another!

I was reading your reply to Grace about stress. Some people work out more when they are stressed but I just seem to shut down.Of course I can still eat.

I think we'll get some rain and maybe 20-25 mph winds, but that should be about it. Although, even that amount of rain could be a problem for us. Since the hurricane, I guess limbs and leaves have blocked the sewer at the corner of my yard, so if we get even an hour of hard rain it comes up to my neighbor's driveway and up on my sidewalk. I've never had that happen before even during hurricanes. I have to call the Dept. of Streets and Highways to see if they can unclog it. I can't do it with a long pole. Even my neighbor tried. Thanks for asking.

My stress has more to do with finances because of Tim's business. It is growing by leaps and bounds the last few months, but all the start-up costs, etc., put us so far in the hole that it's a real strain. I see him stressing, which makes me stress more. I hope to get with a friend soon about a possible job, but I'm also stressing about that, because I really don't want to go back to work, plus that job would be back in design. The good thing is that it would be hospitality type design (hotels/motels) rather than with the general public. It's pretty iffy, but a possibility.

I react the way you do about stress. I shut down physically, but can still eat. Unfortunately, I want comfort (i. e. carbs) food then.

I really think we all have our own stress, not one person is exempt. Of coarse there is many degrees and what is stressful to one may not be to another. I understand the financial stress that you talk about Rhonda. I feel like that has been my life for many years now. Bill quit his job and went on his own shortly after we got married. Billy was just 6 months old to be exact and he is going to be 20 on 11/3. While he has always put food on the table we have often lived paycheck to paycheck. No money in the savings account, and with him being the sole provider it was difficult. This last venture, when he seperated from his partner, he walked away from a 12 year partnership with nothing more then his huge tool box, several large tools (floor jack, tire machine) that he brought into the business and that was it. His partner kept the name, phone number, the shop, the customer base, the tow truck, the rest of the equipment........you get the point. We cashed in our life insurance policy, had $10 thousand in savings, borrowed another $10 from his aunt and uncle and took a chance. Best move he made, we moved 2 blocks down, and across the street. About 90 % of the customer base followed him, the mechanic followed him, he took his mom on as sect. and has been working his butt off harder then ever. But we own the building and property now, we bought this house, I went back to school and now I am working. I still stress over the money because its still tight, and there is no savings but we are better off then many. For that I must be grateful. Funny people think we are really comfortable because we are self employeed....lol that is a joke. He drives a 1997 Ford Daulie Pick-up, I drive a 1991 Ford Thunderbird. No BMW sitting in my driveway. I also stress over the kids, especially Katie and her health problems. This summer with the bites put me over the edge just a tad. Some days I handle it better then others but its always in the back of my mind. The what ifs and someday type questions. Like I said we all have it, just different levels. Sometimes its nice to know we are not alone.

Deb, I really appreciate your candor in sharing your experiences. I don't wish hard times on anyone, but it truly does help to know that other people have made it through and ended up better for it. It's wonderful that you and your husband have been able to persevere and have such great results. Best of luck for continued success.

Thanks,

Rhonda
