Nothing exciting here today, just working in CL.I had a major food fest last night that included chips and cinnamon rolls.I really need to work that off today and get back on track.Next week I have a Pampered Chef party to go to and I hear they have great food at those things.I'm hopefully having friends in for lunch one day and having lunch out with my Mom and sisters one day.I haven't recovered from the muffin fest I had with Flo the other week.Wonder how much I'd have to run to work it all off?????

Good Morning! After not seeing a lawn trash pick-up truck for the past two Weds., I'm happy to see one this morning. I have a driveway full of "tree," plus about a dozen contractor size bags of trash that I'd really like to get taken away, so I could put the car in the driveway again. They have a piece of heavy eqp. following the truck to pick up all the storm debris.

Ivan really has been the terrible. When I heard a tornado had hit up around Dulles International Airport, I thought about Sassy and you. Sure hope you guys (and Cusette in Carolina) are all OK.

I did get several floors scrubbed yesterday and mowed, edged, and used the blower on the lawn yesterday, so I feel good about getting that accomplished.

Rob and friend are waiting in the car for me to head to the beach. More later.

Have a great day!

Rhonda

Hello,

I recently began lurking on this board and have been so charmed by everyones friendliness and "real" experiences. I thought I would dive in and join the crowd.

My plans for this weekend include a wedding shower for a friend who eloped. Her first marriage at 42. (What was she thinking?) She is a dear friend and am happy to see in a new page of life.

We also had Ivan the Terrible pass through this week. I am in the northern part of Alabama so lots of water and wind.

Now for the major thing this weekend.

I am going to go to start Weight Watchers this morning. I have gained and lost the same 40 or 50 pounds so many times. It is very scary to think of trying again and being successful followed by failure at keeping it off. However I know as my mother would tell me "you've got to get back on that horse ,Girl". I have the challenges of 2 kids, hubby, full time job and the blessing of disorganization, so staying focused will be a monumentel task. Today I am 197 and totally out of shape. Day one.

I thank you for allowing me to share my plans. I will let you know how it goes.

Looks like we're drying out here. We ended up with just a little over 2" of rain - we weren't directly in the path of Ivan, but those trailing bands were weird. We'd have 30 minutes of blinding rain, then it'd get totally clear. Within an hour it'd cloud up again. Winds were gusty. MIL's area got it worse - she's probably still without power, and about 7 people in nearby areas were killed when their homes were destroyed. Folks around here are more concerned about Jeanne, which right now has taken a jog north. Hopefully it'll STAY in the Atlantic.

We've got a beautifully clear day here today. The Cus is getting together with a friend to do guy things - a local tool vendor is having an open house so they're going to go drool over woodworking tools. I should be running - it's a pleasant 64-degrees - but we slept in. I gotta clean the bathrooms today, so you're welcome to live vicariously through me, Patty! Okay, you can come on down for grilled beer brats later on today ;^).

Hi Ro! Good to have you here, and we hope you find the support and friendship that keeps us coming back. We're here for you. Please know that none of us are perfect about this and fall off the train sometimes, but once it's a habit, we end up getting back into it because we feel LOUSY if we don't!

I used to live in Montgomery, AL until 13 years ago - they got slammed from Ivan. Whereabouts are you? I've always had a soft spot in my heart for the Huntsville area.

Hi Ya'al! I sure do miss everyone. I'm going to have to try to make this short and sweet even though I want to catch up on all I've missed the past couple of weeks.

This weekend I have got to: bathe the dogs, laundry, seriously clean house (Cussette, I can relate to the bathroom thing), shampoo the carpet, lawn work, do some grocery shopping, and cook a good home cooked meal. The weather is pretty nice and I would rather take the boat to the lake while we have the chance before winter sets in but duty calls.

We went on a mini-vacation to Colorado Springs during the Labor Day weekend and when we got back both myself & DH worked our regular 40 hr job plus work at our part time job 7 of the past 10 days. Thursday we caught up on our rest, last night we treated ourselves to burgers and sitting at home and watching the "Punisher" and the "Man on Fire" dvd's, both good action packed movies.

Well I'm going to have to hurry up and get busy if I want to get anything done today. We could use some of that rain you Easterners are getting. I sure hope no harm comes to any of you, I will say a prayer that God protects all of you and your families.

Smile and enjoy life, you only get one chance.

Hi & Welcome aborad. Glad you are here. I have finally realized that the only diet/weight loss program that works for me is a change of life style. I try to take a walk around the block when I get my 15 minute breaks at work, that is how I got started exercising. A while back, when I had 4 of the 6 grandkids spending the weekend with me I realized why I was so skinny when I was younger. I didn't have time to sit down longer than 5 minutes and when I did get to eat by the time I got done getting drinks, seconds, cleaning up messes, etc. my food was cold and I just wasn't that hungry any more. That is when I realized that I needed to be more active and just get out of the recliner and do something (something is better than nothing). I started out small and gradually added a little bit when my body started telling me that it wasn't being challenged any more. I also found a wonder site that lets you log your activities and that helped me to get in a habbit and kept me on track. It also let me challenge myself to do better. The site is http://www.presidentschallenge.org/the_challenge/index.aspx and was a really good motivator for me when I finally got serious about doing something about the excess weight. There is also a group "Fit over Forty" but I don't remember the ID number (sorry, maybe someone else on this board will know it).

Well I have got to get off this computer and get busy with all the catch up house/lawn work around here. Hopefully I'll get some time to check out the board tonight.

Hope you have a wonderful day.

I would say good morning but it is the afternoon already. Busy morning, though. Cleaned Katie's room, ran the vacume upstairs, did 2 batches of laundry and did my newest exercise video. Its the Slim in 6 program and the "Start it up" video goes first. I need to read the lititure again because I think I do this tape for 2 weeks, 6 days a week. Its only 25 minutes but I was sweating buckets yesterday and today and my thigh, and ab muscles are screaming. I was actually shaky coming down the stairs. Having some scrambled egg white with some soy cheese melted in them. I am on my 5th glass of water already and next is a shower. Heading to the Home Depot Expo this afternoon to pick out a new medicine chest and towel bar for the freshly painted bathroom. Our weather here is horrible, torents of rain and wind this morning with some thunder and lightening mixed in. Not raining now but its damp and still awfully windy. Taking to "bride" out tonight and unfortunatly we are going to a Mexican Resturant. So my food choices are pretty slim. I will eat the seafood enchillada's which I love but stay away from the chips, salsa, refried beans and the traditional bread and butter. But I am going to have a glass of sangria. Just have to have some of that. Well hope all is well and you have a great weekend.
