Has anyone heard from Cussette lately? The last post I saw from her was on Sept. 22nd. I hope she wasn't hit by the hurricane. I know they were doing some painting on their home so maybe she's just extremely busy.

If anyone has heard anything please let me know.

Over here, in a slightly soggy SC with a wiped out husband on the couch and wallpaper books in the dining room. Thanks for asking about me Alice - and Donna via e-mail. I'm still alive and kicking just been busy. It usually gets that way this time of year for me for one reason or another.

Yes, we got our house painted last week. In between hurricanes! That's done and over with. The hurricanes maybe dumped 2" of rain each on us. In both cases the system ended up moving further west than expected. Bit of wind but nothing more than a summer thunderstorm can dish up. Neighbors two houses down lost a tree, and the odd thing was that when it fell, there was very little wind blowing. That's the extent of the damage locally, though further east and west there were some tornadoes cited, with at least one touchdown.

Also working on the dining room scheme. Got wallpaper and paint picked, now scheming curtains. I might have to do it differently than I had in mind, because I'm just not finding fabric that appeals to me, though I still have several more drapery-fabric stores to hit before I do that. I'm just waiting to start until October, because the budget is already shot this month. The running around, checking out books, picking paint chips, and perusing fabrics has *REALLY* taken up an unbelievable amount of time.

Been doing other sewing too: Allison is having her school photos taken today, and I made a skort to go with the shirt that I'd set aside for pictures. She looked very chic today! Also made H'ween costumes for her and me, Daphne and Velma from "Scooby-Doo" (The Cus will take her around the n'hood dressed as Shaggy!). Costumes are always fun.

I'm doing a weekly Bible study with the Women's Ministry at our church. We're studying Romans. Makes me carve out time daily to be with the Lord, which I want, though it is another thing that I must devote some time to along with the usual housework and leading two boards here at iVillage.

Main thing has been Dan's surgery to remove the lump on the lymph nodes in his neck. X-ray last week showed that there probably wasn't anything else going on, and the surgery was yesterday. Doc got delayed when he helped another doc, so the surgery that was scheduled for 11am didn't happen until 2pm. Good thing I'd arranged ahead of time for a friend to pick up Allison at school - and because of the hurricane and the threat it was causing, they let out early. Anyway, surgery took all of 20 minutes after prep time of an hour, then recovery of about another hour. He wasn't completely knocked out, but on anesthesia and a localized numbing. Yesterday he was doing fine... today it's a good thing he stayed home. He's been on the verge of throwing up most of the day (though he hasn't), one of the side effects of coming off anesthesia. At least he's sleeping alot.

I've gotten in two runs (last Monday and this past Saturday), but have had a difficult time making time. That'll come back, though maybe not as quickly as I'd like. I'm working on my time right now, since I'm okay on distances. I've also got 40 hours of self-study looking at me in order to maintain my CPA status. At least those will be fun courses: one on web page design (I know HTML, but not Javascript, and this covers all that, too), and the other on "Solving Money Problems" since I seem to use that to help other people.

So! That busy enough for everyone? LOL! I've not forgotten about y'all, just been scarce out of necessity.

I think I missed something along the line here - I remember talk of costumes, but not of Dan's surgery. Very glad to hear there wasn't an issue other than his coming out of anasthesia feeling off - I have yet to hear of anyone coming out without feeling nauseous. Hope things get back to normal for you all soon, weatherwise AND otherwise.

Waving right back at ya! Glad to hear that you were missing because you've been super busy and the storm didn't hit. We're getting lots of rain here this evening as the after effects pass through. Glad to hear Dan's surgery went well but sorry to hear he's suffering from after effects of the anethesia. Hope he's feeling better soon.

Waving back at you too. When DH and I did some serious remodeling a couple of years ago I told him if we made it through the bathroom without getting a divorce we could make it through anything. (We weren't even married yet, just engaged and living together). We did all the work ourselves except the carpet. I'm glad they were able to get the painting finished between the rains.

Hope you can find time to take a break so you and DH have a nice quiet evening together with a romantic dinner and what ever you enjoy doing most. As soon as he's healed.

Happy to hear from you. Glad everything went fine with the surgey. Hope he recoops soon.

Glad you are safe and around. We all were worried! Hope Dan is feeling better real soon. I understand remodeling, but on a lower scale. My bathroom from 2 weeks ago was a biggie for me. I did not realize you sew either, what a talent that is. I bet you make some awsome stuff for Allison.

Sorry I'm late responding to this, but somehow I overlooked it when I was playing catch-up. I'm pleased to hear that Dan's surgery went well. Hope he's over that nauseated feeling by now and still taking it easy.

You are so creative! Can't wait to see the pictures of the costumes and of your house when you get it all together.
