I got a jury summons again for Federal Court. They weren't kidding when they said they would call me again in the fall and it won't even be 2 years yet until February. I opened the envelope in a panic thinking it would coincide with our trip to Asheville. Luckily, I don't have to call until Oct 22 and that was too close for comfort to me. Now I am sweating it out that it will prevent me from helping DinL in NC who is due to have grandbaby #6 the end of Oct/beginning of Nov. Always something with me to make my stress level higher.

Egads. Jury duty. I do it, of course, but most of the time the pettiness of most of the cases (car accidents where somebody's seeking more money than the insurance company wanted to pay) and time wasted standing around is just a mockery of what court should be. Two of the juries I was on slammed the plaintiffs who would've been better off taking the insurance money, while the third awarded what I thought was a rather excessive amount to one person. Federal. Hmm, could put you on interesting cases.

Once, one of my fellow jurors whispered to me "I wonder if an intense dislike of lawyers will get me off the hook." LOL! Didn't work.
