I am so excited to finally have cable (Internet and TV) as of about an hr. ago! It's been out since the night Hurricane Jeanne hit. Actually, we fared much better on this side of town than with Frances, but west of the St. John's River and even around Downtown had some heavy flooding. I'm including some pictures. Can't find the one of the car in water up to its windows!

The new Jacksonville Beach pier takes the fury of the Atlantic Ocean driven by the winds and storm surge created by Hurricane Jeanne.

LESS THAN 2 MILES FROM MY HOUSE BY CLARK'S FISH CAMP (The restaurant we like so much).

Jim Dixon and his daughter, 10-year-old Savannah Dixon, ride their bikes through the waters of Julington Creek which covered part of Hood Landing Road near the Boat Ramp at Clarks Fish Camp in Mandarin late Sunday morning.

INNOVATIVE MAILMAN

I'll be catching up on posts and trying to reply as much as I can. Tonight is the 2nd part of O'Reilly's interview with Pres. Bush, so I'm REALLY excited to be able to see that after missing the first part. I did get to see Dr. Phil's wife interview Cher, which was pretty neat. We could get the few local stations without cable. Which reminds me, Wed. night Dr. Phil and his wife are going to interview Pres. Bush and Laura about their parents and on being parents. It all ties in with Dr. Phil's new book.

Glad to see you up and waving at us too! So happy to hear that you didn't suffer any bad effects of the storm. Pictures were incredible. I do like the one of the mailman-I guess the mail really does get there no matter what!
Susan
Thanks, Susan! I think Frances had taken out most of the weak wood around my house, but a few neighbors had trees go down, and up the street a large one took the cable wire out. I saw 6 electrical trucks in one spot near here this morning and what looked like a convoy of tree cutting trucks heading south on I-95. Fortunately, other states are sending help. Ice is coming in from all over the country even.
Our power was off-and-on several times Sunday night into early Monday morning, but not enough to thaw food or make the house hot, so we can't complain. We could even watch non-cable TV.
Many counties had schools closed. Rob's was closed yesterday and today, but he goes back tomorrow. There're thousands of tons of debris that still need to be picked up. They hadn't even gotten it all up from Frances when Jeanne hit.
My heart goes out to the people farther south and west who've had life changing effects from these storms. Now you know one of the main reasons I love NORTHEAST Florida. ;-)

Donna
Thanks, Donna! Yes, Clark's is 1.9 miles from my house. We didn't have nearly that kind of water here though. I shudder to think how many gators came ashore. There was a 4' one in one of the TV station parking lots here by the river downtown!!!
Hard to imagine having to be without cable all the time. The main thing was I got to see part 2 of the Bush interview. I think he's such a neat person.
How are you feeling? Sure hope your cold is better.

Debbie
Thanks, Deb! I hope you don't get any flooding.
I forgot to mention that the innovative mailman in the picture was using black plastic trash bags as boots. :-)

Egads on the pictures - the one of the postal worker up to his knees in water while collecting the mail is really stark. Neither wind nor rain nor snow.... Some folks are bound to have some waterlogged mail!
