Wake-up Wednesday

Hey, where is everybody? No words of wisdom from me this morning. I'll leave those to anyone able to think profound thoughts at this time of the morning. ;-)

It took me 4 tries over a period of several hours to read all of the Tuesday thread, but I did it. It felt like quite an accomplishment after all that effort.

No real plans for the day yet. I'll check in later. Just wanted to get a Wednesday thread going.

Oh, I did hear something funny from my mom:

My sister, Cheryl, said the other day she fussed at Andie (her

Good Morning,

I've been awake for a long time already. In fact early enough to get 2 loads of laundry done,my laundry put away, snacks done for work, dishwasher unloaded, reloaded, did morning cup of yoga, cleaned up the kitchen got 2 people out the door for work and now I'm ready for a nap unfortunately in a few minutes I'll be headed out the door for the paying job.

Lots of rain and wind since yesterday afternoon but is supposed to be cleared out today and a nice day headed our way for tomorrow. Lunch hour will be spent at the doctors office hopefully with test results in hand. I'm supposed to be meeting with my literacy student this evening, hope I don't fall asleep on the library table!

Hope you all enjoy a wonderful Wednesday!

It's a nice morning here in SC. Dan's taken another day off, but he is actually up and about, though still just very sleepy. I ended up calling the surgeon to get some anti-nausea medicine for him. He was advised to stop taking the pain killer, as that can sometimes bring on nausea; fortunately, the incision is hardly bothering him at all. He had eggs and toast this morning.

Learned from the news last night that a tornado touched down in a small town north of here, as well as the other two towns (one east, one west). These people lost everything they ever had, one death. Red Cross has set up an emergency line, I'm going call to see what basics these people need. They're starting over from underwear and socks, and knowing where the thing touched down, these people can least afford to start over.

Thinking of taking a run here shortly, aiming for around 3 miles and running at a harder pace again. I want to get back to distance the week before Asheville, because the week after is the Race that I first ran. I'm aiming to finish under a 10-minute mile this time. Also need to pick a few things up at the store - AF caught me off guard, and I was about to do laundry only to see that I've run out of detergent! Tsk, tsk. So... looks like things are getting back to normal around here, LOL!

Good morning!

No deep thoughts here - just recovering from the commute. Funny how a few raindrops turn drivers into subhuman idiots! Well, bad driving is pretty much the norm around here, but the rain makes it that much more interesting.

Jeanne is still hanging around. The forecasters got it wrong; it rained all day and all night, and it's still pouring this morning. It IS cooler, though; I'm going to perform a sun dance later for a perfect fall day.

My head is still chock full and stuffed. Both of us got very little sleep last night - DH now has this cold/flu/whatever, and he got hit harder with it than I did (he sneezed pretty much the whole night through). The upside is that he usually recovers faster than I do. So, by the weekend we should both be closer to what goes for normal.

On my agenda - pedicure tonight so my tootsies will look nice in my very open dressy shoes. Maybe a cardio treadmill trot, maybe - if by some miracle the sun breaks through -a walk at lunchtime.

Rhonda - is that psychology Andie is learning, or just plain 2-YO manipulation? I hope she didn't see your niece laughing (as I'm sure she did).

Lori - Big fat hugs to you this morning. That's all.

Susan - Hope the doctor comes through for you today with a prompt report of something you can deal with, or of absolutely nothing at all.

Hope you all have a great day!

Donna

Gosh, I'm so tired! This rain and low pressure system, plus driving kitty to the vet for an EKG before work, plus this Fat to Muscle diet with LOADS of chopping and preparing fresh food, plus watched Hidalgo last night (GREAT movie!) but when I watch something before bedtime I'm up all night, which I was, thinking I heard burglars, heard the cats, heard the rain, heard everything but the alarm this morning, ha ha ha!

Words of Wisdom for a Wet Wednesday: Don't be afraid to wear your galoshes or use an umbrella in the rain. I can't believe that not a single person I saw this morning bringing their children to school had an umbrella, nor the children either. And they wonder why their kids catch colds???

Have a great day,

Lee Ann

New here and I think I'll jump right in. Its time to get serious about my weight and this support group sounds like the place for me. I exercise daily but I am home alone during the week and so there is no one to be accountable to as far as my eating goes. I lost my dog of 14 years this summer and got depressed and have been eating everything in sight!! I generally stay at about 145# and I weighed last night at 160#!! I'm 5'7" so I can hide the weight fairly well...but my pants are getting really tight. There is no sense in exercising if I just undo it with my bad eating habits.

I am going to flush my system for the next couple of days, lots of liquids and vegies. Then I am going to go back to a sensible planned eating plan. I'm busy tonight so I've already been up for my walk before work. When I go home for lunch today I will take my puppies for a little walk instead of staying in the house for an hour eating!!

Thanks for being here.

You have e-mail!

I can't watch intense things before bed; it really interferes with my abiity to fall to sleep. That's why I had to stop watching ER years ago (I share Patty's healthy obsession with George, I just couldn't indulge while he was on the show). I don't even watch the late news anymore.

As I came to work this morning, I saw a lot of what you mentioned - people of all ages running around without raingear. I can understand not having galoshes, but not even a basic raincoat or fold-up umbrella? I use an umbrella when I go out to pick up the newspapers from the front walkway/lawn/sidewalk (wherever they end up) on rainy mornings. I think I'll melt...

No kidding on the TV. I used to love watching the documentary series "New Detectives: Case Studies in Forensic Sciences", the real life version of the CSI shows which has been around for years. The cases were intriguing, I loved the science involved and they didn't get graphic (often leaving it up to your imaginiation). But the show started keeping me awake, and when I would sleep, I had really freaky dreams - like people I know and love becoming predators. At one point I thought I was going a little daffy and wondered if I needed sleep therapy, but cutting out those shows made it all go away.

I don't watch any of the CSI series for that reason, and also because it's too Hollywood after watching the real thing for well over a year - they blow real life investigative protocol right out of the water!

I could never watch a real-life program like that one. I'm sure I'd never sleep again, not for the freaky dreams (I don't remember my dreams at all), but just because my eyes would be frozen open waiting for some suburban predator to break in and do horrible things to DH and me.

I remember you once mentioning watching "Animal Precinct" on Animal Planet as a guilty pleasure, for lack of a better term. I have to tell you, I've spent many an evening awake after that program sobbing my heart out over how some people mistreat their pets. How cruel humans can sometimes be amazes me.

Anyway, I guess that's the extent of my deepest thoughts for the day...Back to the grindstone...
