I have been lurking on this board for some time but have never posted. I know this post is off topic but am hoping I can get a few ideas. My small community lost a 21 yr old boy to the war in Iraq this weekend. I am the mother of 4 boys, the youngest is very good friends with this boy and I watched him grow up from being his cub scout leader to hugging him at graduation. I feel I need to do something to honor Nate's memory in our community. Does anyone have any ideas, are any of you from a small community that has faced something like this? Lossing kids to war seemed like such a historical thing for me until this weekend.
I have contacted the American Legion of which I am an aulixilary member, they have someone going to the high school to talk to kids today. We, as a community, have never delbt with this before and are trying to think of ways to respectfully honor this grieving family and community. If any of your communities have gone through this please share ideas. Thank you.

My heart goes out to this brave young man's family and all of his friends like you, Nancy!
Hi, Nancy - I'm so sorry about your son losing such a good friend, and for your pain, as it seems you were very close to him, too.

I'm so sorry to read of the loss of the young man from your area. Each one is such a tragedy, because they are definitely some of our country's finest.
Our church congregation lost a 20-yr. old named Nathan last year. We took up a collection several months ago
