Hey everyone,
I'm new to this board and was hoping to get an answer to a question. I am just starting to exercise again after a few years and my goal now is to work up to 30 minutes a day. I remember a few years ago a report that said you get the same benefits from 3-10 minute sessions or 2-15 minute sessions as you would doing the whole 30 minutes at a time. Does anyone know if that's still the case?
Thanks for your help!
Becky

Hi Becky and welcome to the board.

Thanks so much Nancy, that was great information. When the weather gets nicer I will start walking too which will give me 30 minutes or more at one time. When I do my Nordic Trac I just keep looking at the time, it seems like 15 minutes will never end much less 30 minutes LOL

Hi, Becky...welcome to the board.
Yes you do get the same benefits from doing 3 10 minutes sessions of 2 15 minute sessions as long as you are really working at the same level you would if you were doing 30 minutes straight through. (Oh, I did read recently that you really shouldn't depend on that every day and try to work out to the full 30 minutes and do that at least a couple of times a week too along with the short workouts.)
Good luck with starting an exercise program...it is one of the best things you can do for yourself.

Oh I agree...I find the machines extremely boring myself and constantly look at the clock. Think about putting on some of your favorite tunes and just dance around the room and having a great time.
