Day gone so wrong...

Pardon me while I stamp my feet, scream a bit, rant and rave and maybe think about putting a resume together.

Boss man #1 (not mine) stopped in the middle of the office screamed that we should all go into the conference room that he was holding an office meeting-the all of us was the secretarial staff.

I felt like we were the bad kids in the class who got sent to the principal's office. We were reamed up down and all around for various things that he doesn't like. While some of his points may have had some merit one would think that he would use some diplomacy and tact while trying to make his point. Instead we were berated and pretty much told that if we didn't do it his way-we would be terminated. I was about ready to tell him I was ready to be terminated-I could use the rest and the unemployment check. I could feel my face getting hotter and redder the more he went on and on and on. This is the second time that he's done this and always without Boss man #2 around. Boss man #2 knows how to let his staff know that things aren't quite right and what he would like to see done to correct the issues. No instead we get the control freak who tells his partner-yeah I told them. Way to go on staff morale!

We were more or less told that there was to be no communication between any of us unless it was office related. No talking between desks unless we physically moved ourselves or used the phone intercom. In other words, complete silence. So what does my favorite person do-she starts a conversation with my coworker while she's sitting at her desk. My coworker asked her if she had not heard what was said this morning-her response-this isn't a concentration camp-I think she should have gone and told her boss that.

Meanwhile as soon as I walked in from lunch I was informed by Sunshine that there was going to be an office luncheon tomorrow. My response-not with me present-I got the whatever. If she's Ok about being treated like a piece of trash by the person with the Esq after his name and then sit and have lunch-go for it. Personally I'm a bit too angry for that at the moment.

I had to have a bit of a conversation with my boss about the happenings of the day as he heard from his partner about this meeting. There's only so much I can say since they are partners. I merely told him that the "office meeting" was degrading, demeaning and that both myself and the other girl in the office were very angry at how it was done and what was said.

I've been there almost 15 years and from the memos and my "wrong" wording on a memo for a need for time off for medical reasons I really can say that I'm developing a very strong dislike for the man at the other end of the office. The one thing that keeps me from putting my resume together is my boss. He has his moments when he drives me crazy but I respect him for the way he respects his staff and I do enjoy working for him.

I have an overwhelming desire at the moment to dive into a huge gallon or two of ice cream but there's none in the house-probably a very good thing.

If you've made it to the end of this I thank you. I now need to go clean up the disaster that lays in wait for me. It's just me by my lonesome and right at the moment it is kind of lonesome.

I was in Hallmark today and hit a button on a gadget they were selling that says "HAVING A BAD DAY AT WORK?"

Susan, I'm sorry your boss's partner behaved like such a jacka** to you and your coworker.

Oh my Susan!! I can't believe what went on in that meeting yesterday with the staff. You are so right that it was demeaning, etc, and you have every right to be angry. I am so glad you went to your boss about it too. You really are in a dilemna about whether to stay or not. At least you like your immediate boss.

I sure wish I was nearby last night so you wouldn't have been so lonely after the terrible time you had at work. Good for you for boycotting the luncheon. Please take care so this doesn't make you sick.

Hugs
Grace

Keep on keeping on!

Susan, huge hugs to you!!!

Very, very rude and I would not be afraid to tell the partner (your boss) exactly how you feel!
