I could not take it anymore.........no word from her so I grabbed my cell and braved the cold weather. Actually since Rhonda's cell is programed into my cell I did the automatic dial. She is doing fine. I actually caught her, she is driving home from Orlando. She was in Orlando babysitting Jackson this past week for Erin. She was so busy with her dad before she left and just scooted out of town she did not have time for a quick check in. No internet acess at Erin's house so poor lady is having withdrawels. We all know how that feels. She promised to post later today once she got home and settled. She needs to check on her dad, who is in a nursing home now.

Deb, I'd fallen asleep last night and never got the chance to call - and when I finally came to I didn't want to call late in case it had been a hard day.

Thank goodness one (or two) of us got the guts to make the call.

Thank-you all for your caring and concern, prayers, good vibrations, calls, cards, e-cards, and emails. I'm so sorry I gave you cause for concern. Things have been pretty crazy around here the last couple weeks (months?). I was really tied up with Dad and out-of-town family, then I had no internet access while I was in Orlando.

Dad is doing so-so, but not nearly as well as before he went into the hospital. I am convinced he's had some kind of brain issue, whether a TIA, minor stroke, or something else. A fall doesn't change a person the way he's changed even since he first went into the hospital. He's had to go to a nursing home (his worst nightmare), but it is a lovely facility that's only 2 years old, decorated in a very tropical theme and with big windows, wide corridors, an ice cream shop, activity room with a talking parrot, beautiful dining room, library, and 2 physical therapy rooms. It's about a mile from Tim's office, so he's been going by in the mornings some days and taking coffee and a donut for Dad. Lauren used to work at a sister facility across the river and is good friends with the Director of Nursing, who is nice as can be. They worked together years ago, then Debbie transferred to this one when it opened. I think it is really good to have a connection.

Cheryl was supposed to fly back to MD last Sunday evening, but we were so concerned about Dad's condition at that time that she postponed it to Thursday evening. Lauren and the girls just left yesterday morning. I hated to be gone much of the time they were all here, but I had a blast baby-sitting for Jackson. Of course I'm not partial in any way ;-), but he is such a joy and an absolute angel. We played and danced and went for strolls and had so much good time together. I think he really enjoyed his time with me. I may have spoiled him a little bit, but I was pretty good. I did get him to start doing pat-a-cake, because he pats his hands on his thigh or on us (Sometimes he looks as though he's burping us when we're burping him. LOL!) and had him watching educational shows and a hip hop workout :-). He was fascinated. Erin and Joe were extremely pleased with how well things worked out, so that made me very happy. I sure miss that little fella'.

As soon as I got home yesterday, Tim and I went to the nursing home to spend time with Mom and Dad. She is spending about 7 or 8 hours a day there, which is extremely hard. She wants to be sure he's eating and getting his meds, plus twice the IV has come out!!! I don't know if he's pulling it or what. He's unable to walk, and when he gets dehydrated, he can't speak much. He becomes very difficult to understand and it's hard for him to express his thoughts. He's been eating a little more and drinking more, so he spoke clearly today. He's still very confused. When Mom asked if he knew what day it was, he told her he was way ahead of her and knew. She said what day is it? He said, "Christmas." Pretty upsetting.

I took him a brand new baseball today and he held onto it. I think it's good to remind him of his baseball playing years. Yesterday, I took the DVD player in and had him watch his favorite show, Walker Texas Ranger, on it. At first he didn't recognize who it was on the cover, but when the show came on he did. He recognized me, remembered I'd gone to baby-sit, and recognized Rob, so that was encouraging. Rob went with me when I went back yesterday evening.
