Well after my almost trip to New Jersey this morning and then breakfast and shoe shopping I was home and checking the board. When I finished I headed upstairs, grabbed a blanket and took a nap. Dozed until 4:30. Felt good but it did take me a while to get back into the swing of things. My inlaws invited Katie and I for dinner which I quickly accepted. Roast chicken with potatoes, cauliflower and cranberries. I had made a salad earlier to have in NJ so I spuced it up a bit and brought that with us. After dinner my FIL rented on pay-per-view movie "Barn Yard" and we enjoyed our tea watching it. We are home now, Katie is organizing her room (I hope), I have the dryer going and Billy is already under his blanket since he left the house at 5:30 this moring. Rob and Bill are back on Long Island, actually over on the North Shore having dinner with John and Johnny. I think I need to wash my face, brush my teeth and head back under my covers. Wet, chilly and nasty out and a good blanket night. Hope everyone had a great Sunday.
I couldn't get on the board for part of Friday or all day Saturday, so once again, I'm behind. I really did try to participate in Kat's paradise post, but lost it. I wouldn't do it for just anyone ;-), but I recreated it and posted it again tonight. I'm not having any trouble getting on the board tonight (knock on wood).
Yesterday, I was at the nursing home in the early afternoon. Dad wasn't doing as well when I first got there, but as he ate and drank a little and we chatted, he started doing somewhat better. I think he was probably still exhausted from all the workout Friday. I left kind of early to return the pool ramp for the dogs to the store. Got my money back, but used part of it for a floating basketball net and basketball. Unfortunately, since our pool guy went out of town without treating the pool last week, it has been unusable since Friday! I am really PO'd about that!! I miss my swim time and so does Tim. I had gotten Mom a holder for her cell phone that she can hook on her waistband or her purse, so she'll hear the phone when someone calls. It was a little big for her phone, so I exchanged it for a slimmer one with a flap that holds it in. I wouldn't mind having one of those myself, but my phone is too thick.
Tim came home for a while in the afternoon, so we could take a nap. It felt so good to just rest. He went back to work, and I watched the FL-UCLA game. I couldn't help but love it! I have both my Gator flags flying on the car. It's neat that UF and OS will be facing off for the national championship again after just doing it for the football one. Really hope this one turns out the same way. If so, it'll be the first time ever that a school has won 2 with the same starting 5 players. They're already the first school to win football and basketball national championships (last year) in the same year. You can tell I'm a little bit proud. :-)
Went to church this morning. We had communion, so it ran long. I went to Tim's office to get him, so we could have lunch and walk on the beach a while. We ate at the Chili's at the beach where Erin worked when she was in college and it was first built. Chilis has got to love us! We were shocked to see the beach jam packed. During the winter, we'd gotten spoiled to getting a parking spot in the lot easily, but it was overflowing and cars were parked all down both sides of the road. We lucked into someone leaving just outside the lot. I rolled up my slacks from church and took off my shoes. It was gorgeous out in the 80's with a nice breeze. I found 3 shark teeth almost as soon as we got on the beach and found maybe 8 or 10 others as we walked. Most of them are very small. Tim's ears are bothering him, so the wind was painful. He had to cover his ears. We cut the walk a little short and let him get a Starbucks to make him feel better. ;-)
I took him back to the office, then got to the nursing home a little after 3:00. Mom was dozing when I got there and Dad appeared to be, but opened his eyes when I came in. After we talked a few minutes, Mom woke up. Dad was in bed all day and was pretty tired. His feet were hurting too. He perked up after I was there a while. Mom was just exhausted. We went in the day room where there is comfortable furniture, and in no time she was snoring! Poor thing! I finally convinced her to go home about 5:00 by promising I'd be there to help Dad with dinner.
Dad held his own cup and drank a full container (maybe 6 or 8 oz.) of the thickened water he has to have. That was really good! Later, he drank a container of tea himself. I am always thrilled when he gets more liquids and can do it himself. Mom had my boombox going with a piano CD, but we switched to an easy listening radio station. After she left, "I'll Never Smile Again" came on, and Dad started singing along with it!!! I can't tell you how good that made me feel. Dad has a beautiful singing voice, and we love to hear him sing. He hadn't sung anything since he's been sick. He also remembered all the words! His voice is very faint and kind of hoarse, but you can still tell how he can carry a melody. I was choking back tears. Had to call and tell Mom and she was thrilled too. I'll have to email the family when I'm finished this. Tim came in after I'd finished helping Dad with dinner, and I left at 7 so they could have some time to chat alone.
Katie is doing better. She is getting antsy having to stay in my bedroom, and I think she'd eat some food if I'd let her. She hasn't eaten since about Thursday -- only IV fluids and Pedialyte. I'll take her back to the vet in the morning for more fluids and to have more bloodwork done. I guess we'll find out then if her liver is back to normal, or at least close, and if she can eat anything. I give her her pills in a plastic teaspoon of applesauce like a little kid.
Hope everyone who's been under the weather is feeling better.
Thank-you very much for your prayers! We're always happy to have them. :-)
I love the beach. It is so rejuvenating. Our dream is to live on the ocean, but I could be very happy just getting to stay in an oceanfront hotel each weekend. LOL! We're only about 17 miles from the beach, but it would be much shorter as the crow flies.
Katie has a very severe case of pancreatitis. We think it's from some hot dogs she ate (but shouldn't have), but she could have gotten into something in the yard. Our male Yorkie is fine. The vet said the same food could trigger it in one dog and not another, so you just never know. Fatty foods are bad, and pizza is the worst.
Katie has had IV antibiotics twice and IV fluids 4X! She's also on oral antibiotics, an antacid to help keep them down, and only Pedialyte by mouth. Poor little girl has really been through it. The dr. did a bunch of blood work and took X-rays to be sure no cancer or tumors showed up (thankfully!). I guess she'll have all the blood work done again tomorrow. Those were some expensive hotdogs, if that's what caused it.

Rhonda, I will pray for your dad.
Today just flew by as they all do for me.
Thank-you very much for your prayers! We're always happy to have them. :-)

I hope that she snaps out of it.

I used to boogie board a lot most of my life

It makes you wonder if she was just going to have it and then the hotdogs just hurried it along.
