Do any of you actually have warm enough temps that you can go with no socks?

No socks here today!! It was gorgeous, 80 and beautiful sunshine. I was in such a great mood because of the weather and knowing I'd be outside most of the day.Even the boss commented on my upbeat mood proclaiming it infectious.

93 was the temp. that showed on the Walgreen's thermometer and in Tim's car today mid-afternoon. The one in the shade in our back yard not too far from the pool said 95!! I was planting shrubs and flowers around that time. Felt good to me. The pool is blue again and I'd have loved to go swimming this afternoon or tonight, but was too busy. The water temp. was 90. Love that heater! Actually, we turned it off today to prevent the pool from getting green again before the pool guy gets back.

I went to the nursing home today and Dad was having an OK day -- not extremely good, but not extremely bad either. He was dozing in his wheelchair, but woke up when I came in. I put in the Nat King Cole greatest hits CD I'd gotten him, which he enjoyed. He didn't want to go to the dining room for lunch, but the speech therapist and I persuaded him to. I'd gotten him some chicken and wild rice soup from Panera, so he ate that instead of his lunch. The food there has no seasoning. I had gotten a cheeseburger from Wendy's for my brunch in the hopes that he'd eat some small pieces of the meat, but he didn't want any. I brought him some good coffee with real half-and-half, which he thoroughly enjoyed. One big step is that they're letting him have some regular liquid beverages without the thickener, as of today. That has to be an improvement to him. Mom and Tim both arrived to join us for lunch, so we had a nice, full table.

I came home and got down and dirty with my plants. Even wound up sitting in some water on the deck, so my pants were soaked. The tangelo tree is still blooming and smells SO good. Rob was home sick again today, but let the dogs out and came out to sit in the hammock and chat with me a while as I planted. I got all the backyard plants done except the 2 double hibiscus bushes and 2 lantanas, because there were ants where the lantanas were to go and the top soil bags weren't in back for me to plant the hibiscus in some gigantic pots. Tomorrow or Thursday, I'll tackle the plants for the side and front yards.

I was able to get a 12:45 eye dr. appt. for tomorrow. I'm really overdue. I'll need new frames for my reading glasses, since they're pretty well shot. After the appt., I'll do a later visit to Dad and stay through dinner time, since Mom also has an afternoon appt. and will have to leave early.

Definitely a day for socks - big, thermal, padded, Wigwam socks for hiking.
