I'm really afraid of what hormone treatment would do to me. My sister took hormones temporarily a few years ago, and they made her miserable. I really do feel that it is endo because when I had surgery 2 years ago (had my uterus suspended, didn't want a hyst.) the dr said he found endometriosis and removed what he could. If my left ovary is basically okay, I might consider letting her remove the right one. I could be wrong, but as enlarged as it is, I'd be afraid that the hormone treatment would take longer to work than the average 3-6 months.
I am afraid of hormones too and am very careful. Also, the pill gave me migraines back when it was stronger than what they use now. Oh, and I'm more at risk for breast cancer, because my mother had it.
I had a total hysterectomy in Oct. and use only bio-identical progesterone that an OB/GYN who's also a compounding pharmacist mixes specifically for my needs. I had saliva testing done to determine what my levels are. Need to have it done again since surgery. I also use, since surgery, a mind form of estrogen that is a tablet inserted vaginally 2X a week. I refuse to take
That's good info to know, as this is new to me. I've never heard of a compounding pharmacist, either. I get a picture in my mind of and old timey alchemist.
Being able to match it to your specific needs is amazing. That probably needs to be more widespread.
Both ovaries were removed even though I didn't need them removed. I chose to, so I wouldn't have to worry about ovarian cancer in the future. Sometimes after I've been under the covers a while I'll get warmer and pull the covers off, but I don't have hot flashes/night sweats.
