Ok, my life is chaos and my eating habits are atrocious. This post may get whiney but ignore that part and respond to my pleas for help.

Other than following WW, I don't have any advice to give about food other than the usual cutting back on fattening stuff. I know you have a really hectic and unusual schedule, and you're sacrificing a lot to make a good life.

Maybe you can work in some higher intensity cardio somehow or lift some dumb bells when you're at your MIL's. At the risk of sounding repetitive, since you like to dance, are there any Zumba classes near you? You will sweat like you wouldn't believe.

Just want you to know I care about you and you're in my thoughts. A big (((HUG))) to you.

Lori I read your post at lunch time and started to answer but the boss came back and well had to pretend I was working, you understand. First off here is a HUGE {{{HUG}}} because well because. Whine, whine, whine...........we all do it, this coming from the short, blonde lady in NY! You have a busy schedule and although the dance troupe is not intense it does take up a good portion of your free time in the evening. Since you enjoy it so much seems silly to give it up. I know you do not have any extra time for exercise and well this chick aint preaching exercise...........lol (duh!). Your schedule between your job, your living arrangments, your travel and your fun stuff eat up a good amount of your time so I think (remember these are just my random thoughts here) that you might want to consider your water options. How much do you drink? Remember 8 to 10 glasses or water a day should be your norm. On the weekend when you go home do you cook for you and Jeff? What kind of stuff do you make? On Sunday can you fix a take along container for lunch? I just love those new throw away containers.

I've been thinking about this a lot today to think up some ideas for you. Do you have a microwave or room for something like a small George Foreman grill? Can you cook up some things when you're home for the weekend and then store them at work and bring them back to the MIL's. If you did have room for a small George Foreman you can make up some turkey burgers. How about some homemade soup in small containers instead of the canned? I find that soup fills me up if I pair it up with other protein-a bit of peanut butter or hummus on a pita or some whole grain crackers. String cheese is another good staple to keep on hand. Do you like yogart and add some fresh fruit mixed in. Just a few suggestions-but I'm still thinking! Meanwhile an extra big hug coming your way!

Hi Lori,
I know you don't know me, but I'll throw in my 2 cents worth. First, just for curiosities sake, from reading some other notes, it sounds like you live w/ your MIL during the week and go home on the weekend. Is that correct? Second, what kind of dance class do you take?

Okay, to get down to business, I only have 2 suggestions. I've just recently decided to become vegetarian (not vegan). It's working great. I've gained about 8 pounds. Yuck!! Anyway, I've been using whole wheat pasta and whole grain rice more. Here's 2 things I've done recently, because noone else in my house is trying this with me, and I make plenty of my stuff to heat up for future uses so I don't have to cook 2 meals every night. One thing is pinto beans and whole grain rice. That's a lot of fiber, iron, and protein. I mixed them together and had it, for well a few days til I got tired and had to dump the rest. I'll try that again probably next week. The other thing I did was cook half a box of whole grain pasta (I don't remember the name, but it's a little tube, about 1 1/2 inches long; maybe ziti). Any shape of whole wheat (or other grain) would do just fine. I would heat it up, and cut up fresh tomato chunks in it. When I heat up pasta, or rice (when it doesn't have beans) I put a tiny bit of water in it to keep it from drying out. These were both filling for me, and are low in calories.

Also, I've been eating a ton of almonds. I love the smoked ones, but I'm been sticking to the plain ones.

Good luck,
Pam

You know, it just dawned on me that I might be able to freeze some leftovers for meals during the week.
