Hi, newbie here...today was my official first day of my return to 'me'. (I am in my early 40's, and I have 40lbs to lose). That meant day one on the South Beach Diet (phase 1) and figuring a work out schedule that would work with having my young daughter home from school today. I ended up gardening for a bit while she rested. Not a real workout,but the best I could do in the situation! Hubby is working late at the firm tonight so there is no switching off. Tomorrow, as long as my DD is better, I will go to an aerobics class. Looking forward to getting back to the gym! Overall, I had a succesful Tuesday. Not perfect, but certainly experienced progress!

Hi! Sure, I'd love to tell you a bit more about myself. I live on Vancouver Island, in British Columbia , in the capital city called Victoria, known as the City of Gardens. It's sort of considered the Florida of Canada, as we have very mild winters (well, mild Canadian winters - if there is such a thing- ha!) and many retirees live here. I'm about five minutes from the beach, so we spend a lot of free time there.
I am a 42 year old stay at home Mom of two children, a boy and girl (9 & 6) and I help out at times at my DH downtown firm (administrative duties and business development). I am considering going back to school, either in business or in health care. I am having trouble deciding which! I feel it's now time for me to consider my career again, after being a stay at home Mom for almost 10 years. ( I was a real estate agent prior to babies, but not a career I find condusive to having the kind of balanced life I want). Now it feels like a time in my life to rediscover me.
I have gained a lot of weight since getting married seventeen years ago,(mainly through my pregnancies, and I started out chunky pre-pregnancy). I want to get back to a healthier weight (tomorrow sounds good!) So my goal is to lose 40lbs this year through exercise and diet. I am presently on the South Beach program. I love aerobics and power walks. I enjoy playing sports with my family and friends (tennis, hockey, golfing, biking) and I enjoy being outside in the sunshine (preferalby with a cup of Earl Grey tea in one hand! :))
I know that having found ivillage, i can do this as the support and information is awesome. It is wonderful to find a group of similar individuals with similar goals. I look forward to cheering you all on, and listening to you when things are not going so smoothly. I am happy to say that today has been a great day for me on SB (South Beach)and I am really feeling in control! I have battled and ran (REALLY fast) away from temptations and I am congratulating myself with a wee bit of me time on the computer.
