We've had an extremely windy spring here. Usually, the first part of March is windy and by the end of the month the wind has died down. Here it is late May, and it's still very windy. It's not helping the firefighters battled fires all over the state, especially as dry as it's been too. We're unusually cool this weekend. I think we'll probably be lucky to hit the low 80's. Don't know what's up with that.
Happy to hear your DH finished the soybeans, Nancy. I love sunflowers, but the time I had several in the yard, the squirrels demolished them by the next morning. So much for those.
As I posted last night, I couldn't sleep. It was 5 till 4:00 AM before I went to bed and even then it was after 4:30 before I could get to sleep. I started waking up at 6-something. Tim is still sleeping. We're supposed to go to the beach a while when he wakes up, but if he sleeps too long he'll be worried about getting to the office. He needs the sleep more, so I'll just let him sleep. If I decide to, I can walk on the beach by myself. Waves are 4 to 6' and choppy today, so they may not be worth the effort to ride them. Wish the form would improve, but the wind messes them up.
I'd like to see "Pirates of the Caribbean" tonight, but am not getting my hopes up until I see what kind of progress Tim makes at work.
Sometimes, we go to Memorial parades or celebrations, but have not made any kind of plans like that for this weekend.
We flew the American flag daily for years until we had work done on the house. They took the bracket down, and it's never gotten put back up. I have a giant version of a flag in little lights (like for Christmas) that could go on the roof or garage door if someone would ever have the time and inclination to put it up. Sad, isn't it?
My dad served in WW II and is included in the WW II Memorial in DC. I got to see his entry when we took our FOF trip there in April '06. We sent the information in.
The playhouse sounds so cute. Don't be in too much of a hurry for that garden center. The kids will be gone before you know and you'd probably trade their presence
The newbie here who only posts occasionally! I don't even know if I should post. Our weather has been the pits. It's windy and cloudy and cold again today. The sun did come out yesterday for a bit but then the clouds and wind came back. It's been like that for too many days (same as your place Nancy). It was in the mid-30's Friday morning and then will be again tomorrow morning. I want to get out and plant and enjoy the weather before the mosquitos come out and with this weather we'll get a lot. All you lucky ones that got off early yesterday - darn I had to stay the full day. I did go over and exercise at lunch time though, by myself, and did a walk tape after I got home. Still plan on doing weight watchers to get us back on track - my DH wants to lose too. Cat is on pills for bladder infection and it is so hard to get 2 down her throat 2 times a day, ugh. Sometimes we have to wait and try again later. I thought I read someone was going to Pirates - just wondering if you liked it.
Just thought I would answer this since I didn't have a chance to on Friday!
Q What was at least one thing during this month of May that made you smile and/or laugh out loud?
A definite - The Pet Stories that I did manage to read on the last Friday Five. Getting water up my nose when friend and I were at the gym taking sip of water from the fountain and she stopped and I got lots of water! I know the animals and my DH have done things to make me smile this past month also, my brain just isn't working.
Q What is your favorite pattern of swim-wear?
Floral/Contouring
Anyway that's what I've got even though I may not wear it unless I lose a few pounds and we go somewhere. I still have to go to Dairy Queen though and get that Cherry thing.
Q What is your favorite ice cream?
Other? Double Chocolate Fudge
Q What is your favorite summertime smell?
Honeysuckle? - I'm not sure what that smells like - waiting for what I planted to bloom some year. Pineapple- really like the pineapple sage scent but you have to rub that to get the smell. Nemesia (annual) I bought has a really nice scent. Would like to get it out in a pot (sun would help)!
A little late to be starting my Saturday, but I was out of the house for a while early on and have just decided to sit for a bit while Peter is at the pharmacy and before we head off to the track.
Nancy, I love this post. My Mom always told me"don't marry a man for what you think you can make him , but for what he is". It's so true that we sometimes try to change
Good luck with all the stress you have now, Deb. Families are so used to moms handling it all they forget we need help.Thinking of you and please vent anytime you need to.
