Bikini body in mid forties

Most of the people I work aroud or socialize with don't get into exercise much and always have a quick comment to make about others that do. 2 years ago I was in real good shape and wore a 2 piece (tankini) bathing suit. Most everybody told me I was to thin. I felt great!!! I was 44 then. After a year of burn out with exercise and health issues, I am ready to get that body back. Is it so wrong to want a bikini body at 46??????

I don't think so, but most folks I know settle for being out of shape. Then want to ridicule to those that are in shape.

Good morning, hello and welcome to the FOF board. While I won't pretend that we all are exercise nuts here we all do try to achieve a healthier life style in our daily lives, through exercise and better eating. I do not think there is anything wrong with wanting a bikini body at age 36, 46, 56 or 66 for that matter, how you work for it and get is your business. Heck I wish I had that kind of body but unfortunately I do not.

I don't think so, but most folks I know settle for being out of shape. Then want to ridicule to those that are in shape.

I am not sure I agree 100% with what you wrote here about settling for being out of shape. I can only speak for myself when I say yes I am out of shape but its not that I settle for it. I do try to live healthier and my day to day changes reflect it. I do not think people ridicule those who are more fit maybe they are envious because they themselves have not achieved that level. Frustration also plays a part in how people feel and act around others. Time is a big factor to many. I know some people that have completely different lives so it allows them the time and dedication to apply this fitness.

Please hang around and post a little bit more about yourself. Where are you from, what type of exercise do you do, do you have a family, any special tips you might like to share. We always welcome newbies around here and we really do look forward to getting to know you better.

Welcome Freshsunshine! I don't think there's anything wrong with having an aspiration to have the bikini body. I do think it's important to remember to do it in a healthy way so that you can have a healthy bikini body.

Hope you stick around so we can get to know you better.

Welcome to the board! I think it'd be great to be in bikini shape forever. IMO, most people who give fit people a hard time do so because fitness magnifies how out of shape they are. Everywhere I turn I read how exercise is the closest thing we have to a fountain of youth and a healthy diet is right up there with exercise. Go for it!

Thank you all so much for the responses!! :) For me getting back into exercise and getting my body back is a big personal challenge. I drink about a gallon of water a day and I go to Curves for women and walk. I do something everyday. Even if it's 30 minutes. It's 30 minutes for me.

Today I took a 3 mile walk.

I have cut back on eating, cutting portions down some and am stopping night time snacking - (my biggest weakness).

2 years ago I did my 1st 5K walk. Each year I strive to better my time for this particular event. This year I did it in 37 1/2 minutes. I was pretty proud of myself!!!! Last year I even did a 10K walk for the very 1st time. It was tough but I was determined not to give up.

>>>>>I don't think so, but most folks I know settle for being out of shape. Then want to ridicule to those that are in shape.<<<<<<< Regarding this comment I made........Some of my friends made fun of me when I 1st initally lost weight, calling me "skinny" and even telling me I looked sick. It hurt my feeling, whether they were kidding or not. They then would tell me that they are too lazy to exercise or just don't have interest in that kind of thing. But you know what..........we are friends and have been for a very, very long time. Thru thick and thin. So after a while I just paid no attention to the comments.

Thanks again for your comments and I look forward to hangin around here. Thanks for having me!!!!!!!!! :)
