Hi everybody,
my name is Vicki and I'm 41 and really struggling with my weight loss. I currently weigh around 185, need to get down to my healthy weight (according to the Ivillage weight calculator)of 130-144 for my height...having no luck. I spent most of my 30's worried every day about what I was eating and doing and managed to stay in the 170's to 180's. It stinks! I always felt I was on a diet of some sort, well heck I was. I don't want to spend my 40's doing the same thing. It's so much harder now though. I'm not sure if that's due to a slowing metabolism, or just life long bad habits I have accumulated over the past 41 years. It could be a combination of both I suppose. I know support is a key role to weight loss so that's whay I'm here...to listen, to share and hopefully to get to where I want to be.
My downfalls are eating when I'm not hungry, out of boredom a lot, loneliness, stress...you name it. I love sweets of any sort and know I have a real problem with carb overloading. Too many carbs weigh me down, make me sluggish and make me gain weight. I know this and still eat them. On the upside I have tried to integrate some healthier choices into my eating. I try to eat between 7-10 servings of fruit and veggies a day (I try to stick to more veggies) and I'm on the green tea kick. I try to cut down on sugars, but that urge will finally over take me and I give in. I exercise every week, at least 3-5 times. I belong to a gym and go there for step classes, weight training, Turbo-kick classes and yoga. I don't feel exercise is my problem as I'm definately doing more now than I have in the past.
I appreciate everyone who has read up to this point :-) and any advice would be deeply appreciate. I keep thinking if I could just get in the right mindset I could do this. I don't want to keep making excuses however and have to keep saying that. The time has come! Can't wait to get to know everyone, Vicki

Hi Princess,
Yes on my way home from work one day, feeling down, I saw that on a church sign. I've carried that message with me ever sense. Thanks for the welcome, Vicki
Thanks, I will go back and look for Margie's posts. When I increased my exercise last year I thought I could keep up with my eating and in fact increased it some probably. I'm not sure what I was thinking...I have been exercising faithfully and it hasn't gotten me anywhere on the scale, very frustrating, but my own doings.
Thanks for the welcome, Vicki

Hi Nancy,
I've tried WW's before, in fact I think I've tried every diet known, so sad :-( but true. Occasionally we have a WW's group going at work, I may have to check into next time, that would be pretty convienant for meetings and stuff.
I attend classes at the community center. They have step classes, weight lifting classes, Turbokick and yoga. I like them all pretty much and try to get in 3-5 days a week.
Thanks for the welcome and I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone, Vicki
