Hi everyone! I am working on getting fit (again) after relocating last September; it was a long winter of re-adjustment that unfortunately included an extra 13 pounds. I started walking the dog in March and in May purchased a road bicycle. I just turned 48 on Saturday and asked for, and got, a pedometer. Well, I found out that my daily walk is a mere 1.5 miles, not the 2 I had hoped for! I've been reading the "walking off the pounds" message board and just felt overwhelmed by the ladies doing 4 miles a day! The good news is that the weight has been coming off -- slowly because I never was a dieter -- I've lost 6 pounds. I need a little support to help me stay the course! Marianne

Hello ladies ... here is a little update. You may recall I was happy to get a pedometer for my birthday recently, but disappointed to learn the truth: that I had only been walking 1.5 miles every day, not two miles like I "figured." Well, I wasn't all that thrilled about getting out of my comfort zone, but I did a little exploring and figured out an extra loop to add to my evening walk. I tried the whole route this evening and when I got home, my pedometer said...2.1 miles! So that's it, ladies. I am really going to try to make this be my new walk every night.
