Well, I'm sneaking in a little early but not too early. I'm actually 39. I'll be 40 in December. Life has changed a lot for me in the past two years and my body isn't what it was only a couple of years ago.
I'm a divorced mom of 3 little ones. I love to run but am having trouble finding the time between, work, kids, house. I know I need to get a routine going but I just have to figure it out and since I haven't been running, I will have to work my way back up. I used to do about 3 miles 4 days a week. Did some weight lifting on occasion and I know with age I need to start focusing on more strength building things which will also help keep my bones strong.
So ladies, any advice? I love the way I feel when I'm active. I just have to find the time to do it. Wish I had a treadmill. Not my favorite but at least I could use it when the kids went to bed at night...
Thanks for any advice you have.

Hi and welcome to the board Priscilla! It does feel good when you carve out that time for yourself both mentally and physically. Kids, home and work can sure make you put yourself at the bottom of the list. Not knowing exactly what kind of schedule you have I'm not sure I can offer any real advise. Personally, I try to make that time for myself early in the morning. I am fortunate to have a treadmill and a couple of other exercise items and an assortment of DVD's and videos. Do you have a friend or relative that can watch your kids while you get some "me" time at least a couple of times a week?
Hope you'll stick around here. It's a great place for support and motivation and so much more!

Hi Priscilla and welcome! You have the right frame of mind. I Myself am a former runner and am On a hiatus waiting for knee surgery. Its tough to figure out different exercises to do to keep going. Of course none give me the endorphin high that running does But Im Just holding onto the hope of running again soon:)
It sounds like you need to set aside a specific time for your exercising whether its b4 the kids get up or after they go to bed. Do you have any exercise tapes? Or cable TV with FITTV on it? Or a DVR? I use any and all methods available to make sure i get my exercise in
I Hope you find the motivation you need here, I have only been here a few weeks and these girls are GREAT!
BTW Im married for 21 yrs and have one 16 YO dd. I work FT

Going to the track is a good idea. We can take some jump ropes and balls for them. I don't usually do that because the going around in circles gets old, but it is a very good idea to have something to do. If I have on my headphones, I at least have something to listen to.
I'll have to see how they do with that a couple of days a week. Otherwise, we can walk. They don't mind doing that, they actually enjoy it. I'd just rather run and to get a good program down, I know I have to be consistent at least 3 - 4 days a week.
They are almost 6, 6 1/2 and almost 7. Very close in age.
