Sometimes it’s hard to train with my girlfriends, because we all tend to do things at the same pace and same intensity, from beginning to end, even though i know the importance of mixing it up with interval training.. A few years back, I did a video called ‘The Rules of Fat Burning,’ and did an intro explaining why interval training is so beneficial and should be included in your weekly workouts. Interval training, by the way, is alternating slow-to-moderate activity with faster, higher-intensity bursts of activity. It’s also called the “Fast/Slow Technique.”
I got back into interval training, and can’t believe what a difference it’s made in my legs and butt. When you throw in those hard bursts of activity, the body has to use new muscle fibers. Once these recent recruits are trained, they’re available to burn fuel, even during lighter workouts. This will enhance the body’s ability to metabolize carbohydrates and fat.
Bottom line: Interval training improves your ability to burn fat. This means you can go further without tapping into your carbohydrate stores, which is great news to anyone looking to lose weight. So when people ask how I maintain my body weight, I often give them this answer: interval training.
