I love attending major and minor league baseball games, and watching women's softball, especially the Women's ASA games this week on tv. At 41 I'm starting to feel some aches and pains that I never felt while doing the same exercise in my 30s, such as walking or running on the treadmill. But, I love to stay active. My motto is: Age will not determine what I can do physically, although my mucscles may sayotherwise at times :) I never competed in team sports, and always engaged in individual exercise such as biking, running, walking, and hiking; but, have the built of an athlete at 5'2" and 135. I just want to do something different and fun for stay in shape at 40+ because it is getting harder although my mind says I can, my muscles say ouch by the end of the day - but, an ouch I'm proud of at 41.
1.Does anyone play softball or baseball for a team at work, church, friends, or local
league?
2.If so, have you played in the past, or just picked it up for a fun way to stay in
shape as I am thinking of doing?
3. I love the sport, and see it as a great way to meet women my age too who have things in
common :) Did you feel the same way?
4.If you do play softball, do you have any suggestions for someone who wants to play for
fun, but never joined a team in the past? My husband played amateur baseball a while
ago, so he's a great tutor. He would love to give me pointers, and jumps at the idea:)
5. I tend to see a lot of the Senior softball leagues for women 55 - 70+, but none for
40+. Have you ran across this also?
Thank you:)

Welcome! I have been MIA from the board and just saw your post. I lettered in softball in high school and played first base on a team that won the

Hi Rhonda, would that city baaseball league be the Jacksonville Suns AA Minor League? If so, I watch thm play everytime they are in NC playing the Carolina Mudcats AA Team (affliate of the Florida Marlins Major League). Just 2 weeks ago they played and Jacksonville's Alberto Concepcion hit for a cycle. That was awesome to watch even though I am a Mudcats fan :)
I think it's cool you played in HS also, and your dad played semi-pro. My hat off to you and your family. That is so cool :)
Hope to hear from you again:)
I also love my treadmill...it keeps me sane and able to deal with stress at work :)
Yes, our city baseball team is the Suns. Went to a game about 6 weeks ago for the first time in years. A Christian rock group I like, Avalon, was playing after the game.
What part of NC are you in? My relatives stopped at the outlet mall in Smithfield today on their way back to MD. We love to stop there.

I can't believe your team is the Jacksonville Suns. I'll see them play again August 2. Smithfield Outlet is my fav NC place to go also. Just 30 mins away for me. This online community trully shows what a small world we live in :)
