Turned out to be a beautiful afternoon-the humidity dropped and there's a nice summer breeze blowing.
The boss let us go about 3:30 this afternoon but thanks to a favorite someone it will probably never happen again. My boss has a very even disposition and I've rarely seen him lose his temper with the exception of a couple of attorneys and a few clients that go over the line but never ever with an employee. When he's annoyed he will calmly enter his office and shut the door. But he asked everyone if they were about finished up with everything he was letting us go home but that everyone help clean up whatever needed to be cleaned up so that everyone could leave at the same time and not leave someone left-well she bustled away and put bagels away picked up her bag and out the door she went leaving the two of us. We never said a word and the next thing I know he called her on her cell phone and read her the riot act. I'm sure in her distorted mind this was somehow our fault!
Even though there was of course some drama I enjoyed the extra hour and a half. I enjoyed opening up all the windows and letting in the breeze and sat and finished the book that I was reading, caught up on the board and soon DH was coming in with dinner.
I ran to Target and picked up a gift card for my SIL and a few completely non essential items like a new soap dispenser for the kitchen. I was so tired of the ugly green one I have and picked up a brushed nickel looking one that matches my cabinet hardware, a big new cereal bowl for DS and a deep tall new coffee mug for myself.
After I got home I took Otto out for a walk but that ended in some drama too. Poor loveable Otto who just wants to be friends with everyone, for the second time he was attacked by a pint sized dog. She had the dog on one of those retractable leashes but the dog was behind her and barking away at Otto. The leash got away from her and the next thing I knew the dog was behind Otto and rapidly trying to bite him. I had actually tried to get the dog by the collar as she came running since I thought the dog was going to run into the middle of the street and get hit by a car but she was more interested in getting her teeth into Otto's leg and then underneath him. I really expected to see bite marks and blood but fortunately he wasn't injured. A neighbor had thought Otto was the culprit and asking about her dog. But she made it known it was her dog and not Otto. I know the family and they were pretty shaken up as was Otto and I but after her husband and I looked him over I assured them that he was OK and he didn't seem to be limping so hopefully it was just another scary situation.
DS has offered to go to the airport this evening and just waiting for a phone call from DD that they've landed.
I've eaten pretty well this evening although I'm sure I could have done without the second slice of sicilian pizza I had for dinner. I should have had one slice and made my self a salad but was feeling a bit lazy and quite frankly the pizza was really good tonight!
I think I've had about enough excitement for the day so I'm going to head upstairs and hopefully make it through What Not To Wear.
Hope everyone has had a good day!
Susan

I don't know what's with the little dogs thinking they have to attack big ones.
