Karen, you might feel a lot better if you just approach it head on and ask your siblings, what on earth were you people thinking about not including me in the planning and not giving me more notice -- she's my mother too! At least they will know how hurt you are and what an expensive inconvenience it's going to be because of their faux pas. I can't believe that even the most naive adult female wouldn't know better than to do such a thing. A man, I can almost understand it, but not a woman, not by accident.


If you let them know how their actions have affected you, at least it should never happen again, regardless of whether you decide to attend or not. You could

DH got home about an hour ago ... without batting an eye or asking a question, he said "GO" ... "don't worry about the cost" ... "you only have one mom."

Do they rent horse drawn carriages up there? That would be an entrance that gets noticed, and I bet your mom would love to share a ride with you.
