Sorry if this gets too graphic, but you ladies are a wealth of information.

Lately, the last few months, my PMS has been getting worse and worse.

I would stop the BCP because right now you're on it and feeling lousy. Seems like you have nothing to lose by trying a new approach. The fluid retention would worry me. Maybe a new pill is needed or maybe the hormones in the pill are actually causing you to

Wow...I'd want to see another doctor especially if I had swelling around the ankles.

From the internet:

Natural diuretics are natural foods or herbs that allow increased flow of urine and thereby aid removal of fluids from the body. While natural diuretics aid removal of excess fluids from the body, it may also mean loss of important vitamins and minerals too. It is essential that they are supplemented to prevent loss of vital electrolytes. Look up some natural diuretic food that you can incorporate into your diet.

Diuretics
Foods like salt and sugar cause the body to retain considerable fluids. They may lead to bloating and water retention. Often inadequate protein in the diet can lead to fluid retention. When the body does not get enough amino acids or B-vitamins, it may accumulate excess fluids.
Diuretics are prescribed for people suffering from edema - accumulation of fluids in the body tissues. People suffering from high blood pressure or heart diseases may be prescribed diuretics. Women suffering from PMS symptoms such as bloating are often advised to take diuretics to rid the body of excess fluid retention. Often diuretics are taken in a bid to lose weight. If taken indiscriminately, diuretics can lead to serious consequences such as dehydration and potassium deficiency.

Lori,

I am so sorry that you're suffering with all of this. Whoever thought up the expression the joys of womanhood must have been a man!

I really have no advised. Have you been on the same BCP? I know my DD has had to change BCP periodically because of extremely bad PMS and bloating problems. The fact that you haven't had a period in a while may indicate that menopause has begun-but who could wait a year to find out with those symptoms. Have they done any hormone blood tests? Personally I think I might want to have a 2nd opinion and see what they have to say.

Many ginormous hugs to you!

Lori I wish I had some words of wisdom to offer but I don't. I think Rhonda gave you a lot of information that might be worth exploring. I would also say check back with your doctor or find another. Hugs to you.
