An Introduction :)

Hi!

I'm new here, too. I'm 46, married to a fantastic man, have a 19-year-old daughter and a 14-month old grandson (whom I am madly in love with!).

I'm a certified personal trainer, although, I currently do not have any clients. I also work 20 hours/week as an IT Analyst, and work pretty regularly singing with a band (we do dinner/dance type work and all kinds of music).

I admit I struggle some days with motivation; over the last several years, I've gone from a size 14 to a size 6 and I'm now a steady size 8 :). I worked with a trainer to get to the size 6 and had optimal body fat for my age. I don't think that's true now :).

I've been sick the last several weeks - first strep throat, a sinus infection, and then gout in my foot (I get this once or twice a year). I've done some strength training over the last few weeks but mostly I've been resting. Everything has finally cleared up, and I am eager to get back to cardio! It's amazing how much I miss it when I can't do it!!!

This looks like a nice group.

Hi, Rosey...welome to the board. This is a nice group and I am glad you decided to join. Most have "paying jobs" as well as home and family to take care of.

Congrats on your weight loss...it sounds like you got fit the healthy way.

I am a certified group exercise instructor so we have a little something in common.

Nice to meet you and I hope we can be motivating to you. Join us in the folder below and post your October workouts.

Welcome, Rosey! Your life sounds very interesting. Congratulations on getting to a good weight the healthy way. Glad to hear you're getting well after all you've been through. My dad has had some problems with pseudo-gout over the last few months, and I've seen that it's terribly painful. His knee has to be aspirated, because so much fluid had built up. I have a 12 month old grandson who's the light of my life, so I can totally identify with that. Got certified to teach Zumba in August, but just did it to take from the 2 fabulous instructors. I'm happy to remain a student.

Thank you for such a wonderfully warm welcome!

I sang last night and worked up a sweat, although I can't call it a workout LOL.

I'm still struggling with foot pain, but it is much better, so today I am going to workout as soon as I let my breakfast settle a bit. It's Saturday, so I don't have to be in a rush about it.

Thanks again!

Hello Rosey..

I noticed you said you were going out for a walk.. That is almost my daily exercise.

I don't have any great words of wisdom except to say - accept yourself as you are now; embrace it. When I finally did that (at size 14), I was able to then start working on myself. It is so strange how dressing really well and accepting who you are can be so powerful! I've had to find a lot of alternative grab-n-go meals because I have low blood sugar and don't eat fast food. I need protein at each meal/snack, so it can be a challenge. I'm lucky that at my job I can bring a lunch and keep it in the fridge, and I have non-perishable food at my desk.

My daughter works retail; she's planning on going to cosmetology school in January. I'm hopeful that she'll do well and get a job she likes. She doesn't like retail, but she's good at it and gets lots of positive comments from customers.

I sing many types of music; my favorite is standard jazz (like from the 40s). I sing disco, country, rock-n-roll dance tunes when I work with the band. I also solo in church choir and am called on at church on special Sundays.

I can't stick with the same exercise all the time. My favorite cardio is aerobic classes or dvds; walking is my second choice. And, this time of year is great for walking.
