Okay, I am going to be 45. I am 5"5 and weigh around 165. I LOVE to do step aerobics. I LOVE to do yoga. I also LOVE to eat. I am joining a gym today 10/17. The problem is I commute over an hour from work and when I leave to go home I always talk myself into not going to class. It is about a half hour from where I live which is really no big deal. Class is at 5:15 so I can go straight from work. I have one 15yr old who is can stay by herself until I get home. I have NO reason to not go. I am sick of the wiggle-jiggle. My middle is pouching slightly which I have NEVER had in my life. Even after pregnancy.
Classes are wed and sat plus I think I may want to sign up for some personal training sessions. I really want to succeed in this. I am going on a cruise in Feb and I want to wear my bikini. My daughter is around 30lbs overweight and I am hoping that once she sees me doing it she will join in. Right now it is not open for discussion with her. She wants to do it "her way".
So some encouragement would be good and any advice on how to stay motivated.
Thanks

Hi and welcome to the board. Motivation can be hard for me as well and yes I LOVE to eat! For me finding the motivation is just keeping in the back of my mind how good I feel afterwards-not just physically but mentally as well. Battling with high bp and cholesterol numbers also keeps reminding me that this is what I need for my body to keep me healthy and out of doctor's offices!
Struggling with a long commute and after work motivation can be a tough one. I also work full time but fortunately work close to home but an after work workout can be mentally challenging.
This board is also a constant source of motivation for me. It's great to come to a place with a group of women who are fighting the same battles!
Hope you'll stick around so that we can get to know you better!

hi and welcome to the group!GFY wanting to do something for YOU. thats what its all about...this is making time for yourself because YOU deserve it..the first couple weeks will be tough.
My name is Gina and I live in upstate NY just south of Albany. Here is the short scoop on me. It's just me and my 15yr old daughter. I believe she is an alien sometimes. Teenagers...UGH. Actually she is a great kid. She struggles with her weight a bit also. But that subject is taboo right now. I have been posting on ivillage for years on the Domestic Violence and Betrayed Spouses boards. This past September I celebrated 1 year of freedom from my abuser...YAHOO. He lives with the girlfriend now...poor thing. Going through the divorce proceedings now. Cannot wait till it is all over.
I joined the gym last night and took back to back step and body sculpting. I LOVE step class. I am sure by tonight my arms will be sore. We did a lot of weight work.
I am looking forward to going to Saturdays class.
Hi, Gina...welcome to the board. I love step classes too...both taking and teaching them. So, I know exactly what you did last night with taking back to back classes.
I am a certified instructor so if you have any questions about anything, be sure to ask.
I do hope your enthusiasm rubs off on DD and you will get exercising and healthy together.
Good luck with everything and congrats on your 1 st year anniversary of freedom!

Keep on keeping on!
