jazzer/zumba...Deb I was always a hairy lady..But once I turned 40 it went from 1 chin hair to 20 within 2 weeks and then it kept on spreading I can barely keep up with it getting waxed every 2 weeks

Yes---waxing is so helpful.

I was very lucky, I think, with perimenopause coming at a late age and with relatively few symptoms. I mean, I had symptoms, but they weren't terrible. Since my hysterectomy and being in full menopause, the big things I really notice are how dry my skin and hair are. My face is still oily in the T-zone, but the rest of my skin all over is incredibly dry. I am taking supplements now and putting a type of lotion in my hair after I shampoo to try to counteract the changes. I'm considering ordering some after shampoo hair oil from DHC to see if it will help more. I've also read that coconut oil helps, so am trying that after the next shampoo, since I have some of that.

Following are things I notice:

  • Insomnia and/or weird dreams (major problem and more weird dreams lately. I think that has something to do with a supplement I take that has some valerian in it).

  • Sensory disturbances (vision, smell, alternations to taste)

  • Funny sensations in the head

  • Lower back pain (crushing of vertebrae)

  • Waking in the early hours of the morning

  • Sudden bouts of bloat for an hour or two (or a month or two!)

  • Chills or periods of extreme warmth

  • Indigestion, flatulence, gas pains

  • Bouts of rapid heartbeat (especially with my cold and coughing spasms)

  • Crying for no reason (rarely. I "spring a leak".)

  • Aching ankles, knees, wrists, or shoulders

  • Thinning and /or graying hair (drying out and shedding)

  • Sudden inability to breathe (air hunger)

  • Frequent urination and / or leakage when coughing or sneezing

  • Prickly or tingly hands with swollen veins

  • Lightheadedness, dizzy spells, or vertigo

  • Weight gain and in unusual places (back, breasts, abdomen)

  • Sudden and inappropriate bursts of anger (more like irritability)

  • loss of self-confidence

  • Depression (more like just feeling blue at times)

  • Migraine headaches (only optical)

  • Easily wounded feelings (oh, yes!)

  • Crawly skin

  • Disturbing memory lapses (major problem!)
