Thursday check in time!

I have a few minutes so I headed online to read what was going on around here. What is new with everyone, how was your day? How is this week shaping up? Is the fall finally here or do we still have some warmer temps in places other then Florida?

Hi Debbie!
Today, I did something I rarely do. I sat down for an hour and watch Oprah; actually sat down for an hour woo hoo!
Work was busy and a little frustrating. There is a man we work with who is, quite frankly, an idiot. He is so in the wrong job. Last night, I finally decided to stop stressing over it. I can't change him, but I can change my reaction!
Oooh...I love mani/pedis. I've been trying to talk DH into a pedi with me - they serve wine; she said we could be her last clients of the evening - he's not convinced LOL. She does have male clients!
I worked out for about 30 minutes; I'm sore from previous days so it was a relatively easy one with a few minutes of ab work tacked on. I also spent 30 minutes outside exercising the dog - she loves this chilly weather. Brrrr...
Sheesh - $22 worth of flounder - yes, ouch - eat up!
Dinner is in the oven - roasted chicken breasts; having green beans and fruit salad. I might heat up some of the leftover macaroni as a starch, don't know though. I cooked an entire box of macaroni the other night, and there is quite a bit leftover. Oh, well.
I'm skipping church choir; I've been out every night this week and just want to hang out in my sweats with my hair in a pony tail and play Cosmic Wimpout with DH.
Have a great night!

So how did I spend my first 45 minutes at work? Picking pieces of paper out of a fax machine with a pair of tweezers. The machine jammed went to pull the paper out and of course the paper decided to rip. Couldn't pull it out from the top or the bottom. Figured it really wasn't my line of work and called for service. Other than that the work day was rather quiet. I'm also thankful for called ID so I can decide who I would like to talk to after 5PM.
It was also an evening that someone other than me should have been in the kitchen cooking dinner. I'm finding it more and more difficult to change hats from the working world into June Cleaver and Betty Crocker. Simple meal but between putting Tbsp instead of tsp in the the dinner and forgetting to spray the cookie sheet and having my oven baked potatoes stuck rather solidly to the pan.
Brisk and chilly evening for a walk and was feeling a bit uncomfortable with hovering helicopters very near to where we live. I met up with one of my fellow dog walkers and he filled me in that train met car at the railroad crossing. Hopefully it was only the car and no one was inside. Otto seemed to enjoy the additional company.
I'm tired and ready to retire for the evening. Hope you've all had a good day!

I'm thinking that I'll head to bed early.

We had a bit of a scare with Dad this afternoon/evening. To make a long story not quite so long, I think he's in a little down cycle, as elderly people sometimes have, and Mom panicked and over reacted. Lisa was in Charlotte, NC, and went by what Mom was telling her. She called and reamed out some people and made mention of a possible law suit. Mom said she "asked questions" but it came across as questioning their quality of care, so the people at the nursing home felt Dad should go to the ER. Luckily, Tim got there just ahead of me so Mom could leave before dark (and things could calm down) and I got there shortly after. Dad was feeling better by then and Mom didn't think he needed to go to the ER, but frankly, the nursing home staff were concerned about a lawsuit and some of them about their jobs.
I sent the family an update tonight and told them we need to remain as calm as possible and measure our words when dealing with his care givers. I'm sure I'll probably catch some flack for that, but I don't care. The nurse told Tim if it gets too bad, they'll ask Dad to leave!!! It's not even his fault. I stayed until 7:35 to make sure he ate his dinner fine and to watch part of Walker Texas Ranger with him. When he started dozing, I took his glasses off, turned down the lights and the volume so he could doze off while watching TV, and left so he could get some rest. I have an appt. at the dealership for an oil change at 9 AM tomorrow, but will go see Dad after that. Mom isn't supposed to go tomorrow, and I think a break might be a good thing. Lisa is probably back in town by now. I don't think she's going to be on their list of favorite people. It'd be different if it had ben warranted.
Rob and I had a very good time at the RWCDF luncheon today. Food was good, as always, and the speaker was very interesting. I will probably support him for the state legislature. It really does my heart good to hear about people who've immigrated legally to this country and what an appreciation it has given them for the opportunities they have. They feel compelled to give back. It seems to bother them even more than those of us who are native born that so many people want to come here illegally, expect to be spoon fed everything, and then seem to have no gratitude either.
Tim had called and asked if I thought I'd be in the mood for a nap after the meeting. He'd worked in the hotel till 3 AM and was feeling beat. I figured I could use more sleep too. He was already in bed when I got home. We napped for almost 3 hours! I got up when the phone rang with Mom in a panic about Dad. I felt really bad because I'd left my cell phone in the car recharging when I came back from lunch. Had full hands and just didn't think about it.
On the way back from seeing Dad tonight I went to the grocery store. The temperature had dropped quite a bit and I was cold. It may reach the low 40's by morning, but we should be back in the low to mid 70's tomorrow. I'm not coughing as much, but the night air is making me lose my voice. Some people might think that's a good thing! ;-)
Regarding the mani/pedi, Tim would probably never do it, but Rob would get a pedicure in a heartbeat. He's always telling me to give him a foot massage, which I don't! His girl friend will do it for him though. I told her she had that backwards. LOL!
I need to do the coconut oil treatment to my hair tonight and then wash it. I'm ready for another good soak too. Still have laundry to put in
