Great thoughts and a great idea, Patty!

There was an article in our paper yesterday about a soldier who'd been badly injured in Iraq, only 22 yrs. old. He said Veterans' Day had always been just a day off school or work to him and a time for a bunch of sales. He never really thought about what it meant. Now that he's a veteran, and a wounded one at that, it has taken on a whole new meaning for him. He really gets it now.

I hope we all get the price these men and women (boys and girls!) have paid to protect us and our freedoms. It's a debt we can't repay. The least we can do is appreciate, support, and honor them, not to mention remember them in our prayers.

GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS, OUR VETERANS,

       ~~Rhonda~~

I emailed you--wondering if Phyllis might have a list for us.

I'm going to look further into this. I was thinking we could even find a woman to send things to and then it hit me; what if we sent Phyllis a FOF care package for the holidays? You

VALID SOURCES FOR MILITARY ADDRESSES:

From Michelle Malkin's column -- Reader Lynn D. writes…

I called Walter Reed to find out the best way to send a bunch of cards to soldiers, and was directed to the Red Cross office at Walter Reed. The gentleman I spoke to said to bundle multiple cards in one big manilla envelope and send them to the Red Cross office and they will distribute them. He was a nice man who is a wounded soldier himself.

The address I was given is:

Red Cross
Walter Reed Army Medical Center
6900 Georgia Avenue NW
Heaton Pavillion
3EO5
Washington, DC 20307

The man said they can also use stamps, gloves and stocking caps at the Red Cross office there.

I emailed Phyllis to see if she has any snail mail addresses we could use. If she sends some, I will post them on the board.
