Hi my name is Jan, mother of five sons and age almost 47...I found this board because this year I've been going through some changes...Have found some clinical answers but wanted to hear from real women like myself...

Had no clue what was happening...I'm a pretty small person and always worked out and stayed in shape...I have put weight on this year for no apparent reason...I gained hips and back fat where there was none...My clothes don't fit any longer...I gave up drinking alcohol

Well of course we're not 25 anymore. We're 39.......right???

I don't think the dry skin goes away. If anything, it gets worse. All we can do is drink water, use sunscreen, eat right,

I have a generic brand of that I've been using along with some other things. I thought you were going to say bathe in just warm water, but I can't give up my hot baths.

Welcome to the board Jan. What you're experiencing is probably more or less what most women over 40 experience. At least I did! I'm 54 and finally went into menopause about 3 years ago. But until I did a lot of what you're describing was me.

I was always a slim person who maintained my weight well and eating what I wanted was never a problem. I then turned 40 went from being a SAHM and going back into the work force first part time and then full time sure changed that fact. I found weight was easy to put on and not easy to take off along with dealing with mood swings and other delights! Exercise and eating right and remembering to drink lots of water helped with all of the above. Trying to make sure it became a routine part of my day is still full of challenges!

Hope you'll become a regular here. It's a great group of women and we love to discuss anything and everything!

Susan
