What is your favorite Thanksgiving dish?
| Sun, 11-18-2007 - 6:47pm |
Do you have a special dish you look forward to having at Thanksgiving? Do you make it or does someone bring it to the feast? A favorite recipe? Is there something untraditional you have?
Believe it or not, my favorite thing to have at Thanksgiving besides the star of the meal...the turkey, is the fresh orange cranberry relish. I only make it at Thanksgiving since it is almost the only time I can find fresh cranberries.
Just curious...

I do love it all but I will say when I cook it I sometimes don't have a huge appetite for it. But I love roasting the peppers for the antipasto, cooking the pumpkin for pumpkin pie and I guess if I had to pick a favorite it would be for the things I don't make except at Thanksgiving which would be cranberry relish and pumpkin pie.

We have several special dishes that we love, but make only at Thanksgiving and Christmas, which helps to keep them special.
Mom or Lisa make cucumbers and sour cream
I make Butternut Squash Supreme, which is more like a pumpkin pudding and is a good way to get men and kids to eat squash.
Also, have the best corn pudding recipe I've ever tasted.
And, I make sausage stuffing. I used to put chestnuts in it too, but it was really a pain. One year one exploded in the oven and knocked the heat element out of the oven, so the turkey got only half done!
We also make a yummy sweet and tart Cranberry Orange Relish Cake.
