First off I am never ready for the holidays..........and I have learned to take a deep breath and do the best I can because in the end its about family and friends and most important, Jesus. Even though I have not started any of my shoping it will all get done at some point. Last year I decided not to do my second tree and I survived........this year I might add a third tree to mix it up, lol.

Yesterdays weather here was so miserable. Got out of work at 4:20 came home and relaxed for 45 minutes then grabbed Miss Katie and went to the nail place. She wanted to go and spend some mommy/daughter time, so who am I to argue. Next time, hit me over the head. What is normally "my" quiet time turned into $85.00 worth of yack, yack, yack........but I guess it could be worse. I then ran to Aunt Linda's house to drop off the cauliflower then to my sisters to drop her cauliflower, her birthday gift and a banquet sized table clothe. We chatted for 30 minutes or so then I headed home. Changed quickly into some comfy PJ's and made an easy dinner of left overs for Katie, Bill and I. Watched DWTS..........was surprised to see Jenny out and Marie still in. Next week will be interesting. Under my covers by 10:15 and here we are. Although I slept like crap last night. Hormones I guess........hot flashes, cramps, running to the bathroom. Being a woman is great isn't it?

Today should be interesting and I need to hurry this post along. It is just 2 of us in the office. The other morning part timer is cooking and took the day off. Inge our spanish sect has to take her kids to the airport and she took the day too. We have a bank closing scheduled for 11 but as of a few minutes ago I still do not see any documents so I have my doubts this will fly. Which will mean my boss will be crazy, I better take something before I head there. Kids are home but Rob is going to work with Bill today, Katie has her normal chores to do this morning and I think she will head to my sisters later in the afternoon. I hope to be out early and maybe grab a short nap. Katie is spending the night at my MIL to help with tomorrows turkey. I will check back later, hope you all have a wonderful day!

Good Morning,

Another gloomy looking day outside. It was absolutely miserable yesterday although my evening the rain had stopped and although I wasn't feeling great I headed out with Otto for a walk and some mental health therapy for me. We'll just say that I'm very glad that yesterday was my Friday. As my coworker so aptly put it-2 legged creatures with law degrees were definitely not favorites in either one of our books yesterday. Even though the staff is in half today and hopefully the boss at the other end will cut the staff some slack I'm very glad I'm not there today!

The cooking has begun. I have my applesauce in the crockpot, cranberries simmering away on the stove and jello salad gelling in the fridge. I had thought I would get up early and get a workout in but decided to do some cooking first, then a workout and on to cleaning up around here and pie baking and have to make a cake too. DD's birthday is Tuesday but since my SIL will be here we'll also celebrate her birthday.

Other DD will heading down from MA this morning. She hasn't been down since August and it will be nice to have her here for the weekend. I wish the rest of the family could have been here tomorrow but plans didn't work out that way. I know she's disappointed since she doesn't get to see everyone very often.

Donna-hope Peter is doing well. Rhonda-good luck with everything you have on your agenda today. That was really nice that you were able to speak about your aunt. I'm sure it meant a lot to the family members.

Well better get back to what I was doing before I have a disaster in the kitchen!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Years ago, I made a conscious decision to do what *I* love for the holidays and shopping is not one of them.

I'm making progress. Have 3 recipes of the squash and 2 of the corn pudding, plus the stuffing finished. The Cranberry Orange Relish cake is in the oven. Decided not to do the pumpkin bars recipe my sister sent, since I'm making pumpkin biscuits and Mom is making a pumpkin pie. So, all I have left to do are the biscuits and the holiday biscotti recipe I posted for Karen. I'm just substituting 1/2 T of cinnamon for the anise and fennel, since we're not big on those.

Need to run get dressed so I can visit Dad and return that darn coffee carafe. This time I'm taking measurements with me. I'm going to be late getting to see Dad, but I can call and let him know so he doesn't give up hope.

More later, hopefully. Still have all the cleaning to do.
