Susan a Verizon question

Susan you mentioned Verizon at your house working all day, did you hook up to the Fios? The reason I ask is that Verizon just finished installing the wires this past week in our neighborhood and Bill and I were discussing the possibility of changing over when we had a knock our door today from a Verizon rep/sales person. With signing up with Verizon we will save a little over $60 a month. We will still have Verizon for our phone with all the same features as before, we will have Verizon for our internet instead of the cable company (it is supposed to be 3 times faster) and Verizon for our TV with offers more HD channels and more over all channels then cable. We also got for the promotion a free wireless router that can run up to 30 wireless computers and a free HD Sharp TV which Bill said he will put in the garage (I know, don't ask). If you guys switched, let me know how it goes this week. I am scheduled for hood up on Friday. I can cancel if we need or want too.

Yes, we got the Fios TV, internet and we already had the phone service. We previously had Cable for internet, Directv for TV and Verizon for phone. I've had major issues with customer service and technical support from Directv over the past few months which led me to investigating the bundling package with Verizon which should save us a few $ a month. I don't like the DVR system as much as my Tivo box but I'll adjust! Phil has an issue with his TV but it has something to do with his surround sound system and the hookup. It hasn't been resolved yet but their customer service seemed to be pretty good. I have 30 days to back out of the deal without paying a charge. I hope all goes well with it. I'm tired of figuring all this stuff out! I also had the choice of a TV or a Best Buy gift card. I'm opting for the gift card and keeping it for myself!

Let me know how it plays out through the week. I know we are going to miss Channel 12 news alot but not $60 worth of miss. We are supposed to get the free TV and a Target $50 gift card.........Bill needs to talk to a friend of ours who works for Verizon and I believe he installs the systems and has one at his home. I will let you know how things go. Thanks for the information.

I agonized over this decision and finally to the point where I thought it was the right one and now 2 service calls within 12 hours and less than 24 hours after installation. Now I don't have TV or sound. Their tech support is good but currently not solving my problem. But I did just have a call from them and they are sending a tech out so have to say their customer service is great (so far).

Hi Deb....we have Cable for all 3 features and like it a lot. Customer service is very good too and all the features on the phone. First time we had caller ID, we were so behind the times. We pay $126 a month for the HD TV and supposedly no one has more channels in HD than Cablevision. I think most of them are sports channels but they add new ones all the time. The free on demand is a nice feature too. Now we don't have a fancy package....family plan...no HBO etc. So I don't know what all of that would cost. Our DDS have it too and they have the DVR for $10 more a month or so. They like that a lot too. Oh, if we are using the TV with the box, when the phone rings, the caller's name is flashed on the TV! What a hoot that was the first time it happened.

One thing to keep in mind is that it starts with a promotional monthly fee...cable and verizon...and then goes up. There are no extra taxes or fees with Cable but there are with Verizon.

Someone we know works for Verizon too and he said people constantly switch back and forth to get the promotional

Be like a postage stamp.  Stick to it until you get there.

The Verizon lady did say that installation was going to take about 4 to 5 hours. Verizon has that caller ID on the TV too if we want to use it (no extra charge). They sales guy said we will get more HD channels and more over all channels then Cablevision. Now we have the gold package with Cable and I pay $169 for the internet and the TV service. I will have the Verizon gold package too but we won't be paying anything extra for the HBO, Showtime, & Cinamax on demand. I currently pay $5.00 extra for the HBO on demand and we do use that. The on demand movie rentals we don't use because I am always a month behind on my bill with them. I think the whole thing is a coin toss honestly but I do like the idea of keeping my phone with Verizon. It is a two year contract for the basic triple play at $100.00 for all three basic........its the extra TV stuff that gets costly. I might just drop some of those extra stuff come summer time when we watch TV less. The saga continues.............I will keep you posted.

Susan now you have no TV in any of the rooms??? When is the service guy coming today or tomorrow?

DH has his little TV working, DD's works and DS's works but without his surround sound system which is of course a major annoyance and irritation particularly to an electronic freak. Mine doesn't work at all. The tech actually was here and is apparently going to go find a replacement box-sign of things to come? Certainly hope not!
