I got an email from Shar that her FIL died a couple of weeks ago. I really feel for her and think we're experiencing a lot of the same feelings. You may want to drop her a line.
I didn't get up to stay until 2:30 this afternoon. It was one of those days where I was just wiped out. I have done some cleaning and have a pot of chicken on to make chicken and dumplings. The guys are happy about that. We had a good dinner last night too. I'm going to have to be careful or they'll come to expect it. ;-)
I was at the hospital a lot of yesterday. Tim arrived in the parking lot the same time I did and I didn't even know he'd decided to come. My uncle was there too. The feeding tube was in, but I learned right before I left that Dad wasn't hooked up to anything with it yet. He was switched to a pureed diet, and I was able to get a little turkey, mashed potatoes, and corn (all pureed), and some pudding in him. He drank almost a whole carton of milk.
Thanks for your thoughtful post, Terry. :-) It's funny. Mom and Dad have bickered most of their marriage. I always referred to it as the world's longest war. However, we've always been a close family and when the chips were down they've always been there for each other. When Mom had to get a pacemaker and had breast cancer, Dad was right there for her. Since he's been ill the last few years, she's been there and been an outstanding caregiver. When he was at the nursing home that wasn't so far, she was there almost every day. They've become a belated "Love Story".
I have 2 sisters -- one in MD who tries to come down as often as possible and will be here again this week, and another who lives here in town but works and has to travel sometimes. Since I stay at home now, I am the one who's most available to try to take some of the burden off Mom. Not only that, but I was always the Daddy's Girl. I became closer to Mom too after I got older. My sisters were always closer to Mom and became close to Dad when they became adults.

Hmm, bickering must not be all that bad!
