Timid Tuesday Check In..................

So, did your timid tuesday come in like a lamb and go out like a lion? Did you accomplish something you didn't think you would get to today?

My day started off on the wrong foot with leaving the house without my handbag and having to turn back from the WW parking lot to go back and get it. Luckily I still made it in time for weigh in and meeting. Did I say luckily? I was up .4 lb. but I did get the new program. Now that is making lemonade out of lemons.

Can't think of anything that I did that was out of my comfort zone except asking about the extra $40 charge on my eye exam. I was told it was for retinol photography which I believe tests for macular degeneration and I did check no for that. Supposedly, they do it as part of their comprehensive eye exam...yeah right!

Getting ready to have salad for dinner with some leftover wild salmon in it and hoping that is it for eating for me tonight.

So let's hear it, lionesses!

Not sure whether the day was a lion or lamb. Started off the day with an uncooperative computer at work. I ended up moving my work down to a different desk until the computer guy could come and have a look see. I was able to dig into a bit of last weeks' work as well as tackle the issues of the day.

Eating was a bit of a disaster today. We're getting in all of these Christmas baskets and I have to learn not to overindulge. Probably explains the stomach pains this afternoon.

Doctor appointment went fine. Everything is same old same old with that issue and gave him a copy of my blood results which included my thyroid levels so no needles for me and no appointments with him for another 6 months.

Fortunately not feeling quite as overwhelmingly tired as I was last night although I've got the scratchy throat thing going on. Hoping it's not something else brewing.

That's about it for the day from me. Hope everyone has had a good day and that there is a good night's rest for all!

Can't believe I forgot to tell everyone about the very non-timid, step I took out of my comfort zone yesterday. You might call it a LEAP!

While people were waiting at Memorial Park for the Move America Forward bus to get there, this scruffy bearded guy and his skanky girl friend dressed in all black came up to the main group of people and started an argument with some of the vets. Most of them were WWII or Korean War vets, so you can imagine how old they must have been. He was going on about the Holocost, how amazing war is, and other really absurd things. I was standing over to the side away from where they were, but when they started shouting I could hear what was being said.

One of the older vets, probably in his 70's, told him he was an idiot and he didn't know what he was talking about. The scumbag started making threats and getting very profane and showed him his "gun" (bicep) and told him to come on out and fight and he'd beat his a*s! A Vietnam vet who was probably in his 60's kind of got into it with him too and the guy wanted him to fight too. Keep in mind this guy who's Mr. Big is probably late 20's or early 30's and wanting to fight men in their 60's and 70's. When I heard that I just lost it! One of my biggest hot buttons is injustice and cruelty to older people, kids, or animals.

I walked over and he was talking about his freedom of speech and freedom to do this and to do that. I told him he also had the freedom to be obnoxious and that the best way to treat people like him was to walk away and ignore him. He started wanting to fight the men again and using the F word every other word. I told him he was a real big man calling out men to fight who were a minimum of 25 to 30 years older than he was and that he was probably a real tough guy with women too. I asked him if he wrestled women. LOL!

He started in about what "my" people had done to "his" people, meaning Gentiles to Jews. I said, "Don't hand me that. My great-grandfather was a German Jew whose last name was Frank. I might be related to Anne Frank!" At that point he started walking away. I said, "Yeah, that's right, walk away when people start saying things you don't have an answer for."

He was still cussing and carrying on and told me that I could "walk away, genius."

I was so caught up in my story that I forgot to post about my day.

I didn't do a whole lot other than go see Dad. I was so happy to see his eyes open and he was able to talk to me in short sentences and was easy to understand! He doesn't remember anything about his stay there though and wondered how I'd found him way down there and what was I doing out that way. He didn't realize he is in the hospital, has had a catheter, and IV's. I couldn't get him to eat his lunch, but he drank an Ensure with orange sherbet mixed in it. As he got tired, it became hard for him to finish a thought. He dozed off and slept soundly, so I left about 3. His feeding tube is out and they're going to stop IV fluids. I talked to the dr. who said he is going to release him tomorrow and to the director of the case workers about getting him into a different nursing home. I'm nervous about him being discharged, because he doesn't seem THAT much better, and we don't want him to go back to the same nursing home. We feel they're responsible for him being so sick. The hospital faxed referrals to 2 other nursing homes and will send his files by certified mail. I'm hoping we can get them to extend his stay an extra day, so he might be able to go directly to a new place instead of back to where he was.

I was on the phone with Mom 4X, Lauren in MD, Cheryl driving down from MD 3X, Lisa here, Rob 2X, and Tim 4X. He's driving back from downstate and is a little north of Daytona Beach now. He said both meetings went well today, but will generate even more work. Cheryl should either be at the hospital or have left and be at Mom's by now. She left MD at 6:30 this AM and was making good time. It was 81 here today, so I know she'll enjoy that. Watch us get the cold weather that was in TX soon. I notice we often get what they have several days later. I emailed Tim's brother in OK this evening to see how they're doing in the ice storm. He said they lost power for a while and their trees, but nothing serious. I'd hate to lose all my trees! It could have been a lot worse. Hope those of you in the middle of the country are faring well through all the bad weather.

Made another run to the grocery store today. I had forgotten how often I forget or run out of things when I cook. It made it worthwhile though when Rob said yesterday how nice it is to have me cooking again. :-) I have a Texas Beef Bake casserole in the oven. I quadrupled it, because it says it's for 2 servings and we have ROB to feed. LOL! It's a milder version of chili with some rice in it and cheese melted on top -- very tasty.

As for boring posts, I look forward to reading everyone's posts. We all have more exciting and less exciting days, but it's all interesting.

Hugs,

Hope your stomach is OK and that the scratchy throat is just temporary and not the start of something new.

I'm glad I'm not working at this time of year. I

Good evening Grace and All!

Had quite a few distractions today but still got in the workout I planned and glad I did it. I just wish the scale would move a little!
