Hi, Maggie...welcome back. Glad you are healthy again and the surgery was successful.
I am post menopausal for about 4 years now and last year (Dec 19) had one ovary removed as well as an ovarian tumor, appendix and very large tumor on the appendix. I have been struggling too since the surgery and menopuase and I am a certified exercise instructor and exercising a lot...but not as much as delighted Debra and Jazzerdeb...and trying to eat right for health reasons too.
Before the surgery, WW worked really well for me but it just doesn't seem to be doing it now. But, I keep trying and try to eat foods that are ok on the SBD as well as count the points. I keep reading that carbs have to be limited more after menopause and SBD is the right way to go especially to lose belly fat. Of course chicken and fish is recommended and red meat should be avoided.
I do think upping the protein is a help as well as lots of fruits and veggies. Dietary calcium is good too to help with fat loss as long as it is reduced or no fat dairy.
I wish I had the answer. It is just hard work and accepting some of the changes and trying not to obsess. Just think fit and healthy and don't obsess about the scale. Once you relax some over it, it seems to work better.

Hi Maggie. Nice to see your post and so happy
Miss P
Nice to see you back, Maggie. I had a total hysterectomy and 2 other procedures October of '06. I was in perimenopause prior to that. I'm having the same problems the rest of you are having, plus I'm having a terrible time sleeping, which makes me really tired a lot of the time I'm supposed to be up and functioning.
When I was doing Zumba regularly, I could see my abdomen going down and was getting a waist again. I haven't done it in about 2 months due to being sick quite a while and my dad's poor health. Whatever I lost has mostly come back. I do want to start again after the holidays. I'd like to get back into lifting weights, but I'm not allowed to ever lift over 20 lbs., so it would take a LOT of reps to do much good with that small amount. Still, it would be better than nothing and I can use my own body weight for some things.
Avoiding grains and dairy seems to help keep my stomach from being as bloated, but that's really hard for me to do. We do use double fiber whole wheat bread though.
I hope you'll have success finding a plan that works. If you do, please share it with us! ;-)

It is a lot harder than it used to be! I am dead tired if I have to teach more than 2 classes a day and I cannot recover from exercising too much like I used to. I cannot exercise everyday....I need to take off at least 2 days a week.
I don't know how you can exercise 3 times a day....it would blow me away. Exercising at night it the hardest. And if you exercise too late, it causes more sleep disturbances. You would think it would work the other way...tired from exercise so you would be tired enough to sleep...wrong! Oh I should say it could work but you have to do something like yoga.
The best way to burn the most calories is to make sure you do weight workouts. The more muscle mass the more energy you burn and the faster you metabolism. Cardio is important but the new research says that doing weights and gaining muscles is just as important.
Good luck and keep posting with your workouts and progress.

Hi Maggie!
I'm not post-menopausal, but I am having difficulty managing my weight.

Maggie..Hi!and welcome back..as you can see you are not alone. Iwas On Atkins 2.5 years and was slowly and surely Losing weight (70 pounds!)and got within 7 pounds of my goal and then WAMMO perimenopause set in..In One week I gained 7 Pounds..and I never really got that back off..a few months later I injured my knee and havent been running since and gained 10 More pounds. My lowest was 180 pounds and I am now teetering over 200..for the past year I have been exercising 25-35 min a dayand It just aint cutting it..I KNOW I have to exercise 40 Min to lose weight (But anything over 20 min hurts my knee)..so come january after knee surgery Im Hoping getting back to running will work miracles for me..It is hard Not to be frustrated..But It is weird How the fat now parks itself on the belly section more than before
