Christmas Eve was a night of song that wrapped itself about you like a shawl. But it warmed more than your body. It warmed your heart...Filled it, too, with melody that would last forever. ~ Bess Streeter Aldrich
Patty, a really lovely message and so true. I hope you, Rick, and Ryan are getting to do some fun things since the birds left.
I am in the Christmas spirit. The only thing that could be better is if Dad were able to be home, but I am so thankful that he is even still with us after all he's been through. I am so blessed to have my Mom and Dad at 58 years old. I will hold them and the rest of the family close to me and cherish every minute, because they are the greatest gifts of all. No material thing could replace any of them, so I already have what I want most. Everything else is just icing on the cake. :-)
I'll be doing a lot of cooking for tonight and to get things started for the dinner tomorrow. Once it warms up a little, I'm going to use my new fruit picker and get enough tangelos to take to the neighbors, as is our custom. The gifts are wrapped, the windows shall remain wreathless (and I'm OK with that this year), and the food will be ready in time, so I'm at peace even though I'll be busy.
Christmas Eve is our favorite time. I love the anticipation, the togetherness, and the serenity of later in the evening when I'm alone with my thoughts looking at the lights on the tree.
Last night, I did what has become an annual ritual. I got my new calendar and went through it to mark all the family's birthdays in Sharpie and then highlight them. I have a typed list for the FOF Board members whose birthdays I know. I guess you can tell, I'm big on birthdays.
Kathy, your dad remains in my prayers. I hope you will feel the Christmas spirit soon. Think of how blessed you are that your dad pulled through his crisis and how fortunate to get what sounds like excellent care. Hold his hand and will him to get stronger through the energy you're transferring to him, as we all continue to pray for him. Big hugs to you!
MN-Deb, I'm glad you took the time to come by too. Hope all is going well as the big night approaches.
Just want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and tell you that you are all blessings to me, each a unique gift with her own special wrapping
The rain has stopped, saw that beautiful moon early this morning and a definite drop in the temperature this morning.
Spent part of last night up with younger DD who apparently came down with some type of stomach bug. She seems better this morning but still not quite herself. Last year it was older DD. We've been piddling around this morning. Feeling like Deb/MN this morning. Lots of things to do and really don't feel like doing much of anything and really not worried about any of it. I made a pot of marinara sauce this morning but at 7AM really wasn't enjoying the smell of it. Older DD is having breakfast with the future inlaws and they she and her BF will stop by here. DD will be helping in the kitchen this afternoon and her BF has plans with his family.
Kathy-continued thoughts and prayers for your Dad and you and your family during this very difficult time.
Hope you're all enjoying the Eve whether you're traveling, staying put, entertaining or being entertained. Blessings of the season to you all!
DS got his "Thanks for being a wonderful seasonal employee, but we aren't keeping any of our seasonal employees this year" from Target this morning, so he is back amongst the unemployed.
Princess,
What a great message this morning.
